Page : <1> :

Do I not have enough memory? I get no error, Think Tanks just unexpectantly quits. I'm runnin' Mac OS X and even rebooted and tried. The mod has 6 different textures. Is that a problem? Because my server is up and have only one copy of TT I usually click on Contents/MacOS/ThinkTanks OS X to run the game. This opens a new window in Terminal, but after I get booted from TT that window says I have a Segmentation Fault. It then seems my server is no longer appearing on the master list. I've had this problem in some of OUCH's MODs, and everything else seems to be working fine. Any ideas? This is driving me crazy. :S

I wouldn't bump this if I didn't think it was important.

Ahem... Slight comparison- Mac: simple, easier to use, lessthreating viruses

PC: Confusing, Tendancy to be completely useleess when older, Almost all viruses affect them.

ILike, iMac ;)

Pardon my rudeness, I cannot abide useless people.

Wait Warfare. I have three mods up and running. My new TGE mod is the one causing trouble. I think it was a bad.ter Nap sent me. I replaced the one I had with the "fixed" on, but now I need the original problem fixed. Am I making sense? :o

Normally when you get a segmentation fault it means the terrian file is missing in the server. All I did to fix the terrain file was do a "find and replace" because there are textures form the demo directories. Replace the word "demo" with the word "game" in the terrain file. You should be good after that.

Okay Napalm, but do I do that in TGE or Word? If I open it in Word, everything is out of format...big time. I tried creating a game folder in my main TGE folder, but I'm still not seeing the paths when I choose a texture.

Ah looks like we need to back up a bit.

Yes you need to dupe the demo folder and rename it game. Also copy all of the contents from TT game folder into that folder and overwrite. Then you need to launch TGE.

Windows=
cd..
demo -mod game

Mac is a little more complicated.

What OS are you using?

If I rename the demo folder game, TGE won't launch. I made a game folder with all the stuff in it but that didn't do anything...I'm running 10.3.2.

It looks like there's two problems.

The first is that TGE is a demo and it needs to be "fixed" in odered for it to be used.

As you see there is a demo folder only when TGE is installed. You need to duplicate that folder and rename it game.

Copy the dtat forder from tt and paste it into the duped folder you renamed game.

Launching is a bit tricky. You can't just launch the game via the icon, I beleive it won't see the game directory that way. You need to launch via the terminal window.

Here's a sample from Spunky's thread.

/Users/spunky/Applications/gAmE FoLdEr/TorqueGameEngineDemo/Torque Demo OSX.app/Contents/MacOS/Torque Demo OSX -console -mod game

You'll need to find your own path.

You should be able to find your path by going into the Mac OS folder and dragging the Torque Demo OSX in the terminal window.

You know what. I think the segmentation error is something else. Unless I'm mistaken the segmenataion fault may be because something was placed in TGE that may not be compatible. Did you by chance add any objects form anywhere outside of the static shapes directory?

I think I may have received similar errors when I was testing some dts files from Lore that were not compatible with TGE.

Again Send them to me and I'll take a look. Napalm_tt@yahoo.com

Okay, I'll try.

You've got mail Napalm. :S It sounds like from those posts above that you don't use this method. How do you do it? :o

I use TGE on Mac and Windows so there are two different methods. They only differ when it come to launching TGE.

I followed all of the instuctions which are similar by various people.
The basic steps:

Install TGE
Duplicate the demo folder and rename it game
Copy all of the folders in the data folder from Think Tanks to the (data folder) in the game folder you just created.
Install the expansion pack
Install the Mod_Pack
To launch TGE in on my Mac I use this which is specific to my machine and the location of the game.
/Applications/Games/Think Tanks/TGE/Torque Demo OSX.app/Contents/MacOS/Torque Demo OSX -console -mod game

When in TGE, I place only static objects in. Rocks, trees, etc. I never place pads or volcanos or any other dynamic element in TGE
I then take the saved files (and they are uniquely named, I do not use the TT_xx method) into Mod Wizard to place all of the dynamic elements.
Save it and test it out.

Done, a new mod.
