Don't make me say it, please, please *open source*, crap sorry.
Heck don't open the source, sell it to people who have TGE. Of course some type of non-compete clause. The thought of TT in TGE makes me drool. The thought of having TT in TAT, makes me...(it is a pg13 forum).
Otherwise I am just wasting time till legions get released
;)
^ What's that, legion?
And aye BC, this one might just fade away... TT would have been dead a while ago if it wasn't for the community that produced all those new maps and customized stuff. It happens with lots of games; you get a value-added on the game from its users community.
I'm playing Wesnoth now and - same thing: a simply neat game, enhanced by maps and scenarios made by the community! :P
TT2? I say 1-3. But who knows. Maybe 56K has secret informations?
Still yawning here......
@Hugo
If I understand right, Legions will become the next legends for GG. Won't really be a "game" but something a lot of people can work on and show there stuff, like legends. Or who knows, maybe they will make a game from it.

<- catches nap's drizzle.
in half serious, three sentences from the makers would quell the masses for the next six months while we await the 10.3 update [which finally will bring the fixes to networking, object clipping issues, and the much-anticipated soccer game modes].
just kidding.

Tis Time?
Isn't this where Pokemalo jumps in and says: "Relax guys. Jeeeeeeeez. TT2 is neither at the front nor at the end of the TO DO shelf. We're working on it. As an independent gaming facility, we have to pay the bills. Now just settle down. MY LORD."
2 days of lipservice followed by 3 days of excuses.That's MY prediction. Any one wanna bet?
At least the Torque Game Builder demo download is in the development section at Apple.
{WalMart free for over 24 months!}

Soilient Green! My favorite flavor! %)
@ NUTZ: Thanks for the link. Interesting, if you're a developer! I used to do lots of 3d stuff in the early days... Was awesome! So I could see how interesting a concept like Legion is.
TT2? How can GG/BT could say "ok we did ThinkTanks it was fun but now we're way moved on"? Which is probably the truth; in the sense that maybe it does not excite them at ALL to make another tank game. You know how it is, in life we follow what's exciting. To revisit TT is just too... Passé for them, as creating artist. (My 2ç guess).
Odd thing though. I don't play any other game that Bravetree or Garage Games made.
Maybe they just need to develope the product so that there is a base package to intorduce the community to, and another that is suscription based for those who want expansion. I think it would help extend the game to the creative influences and generate some (mentioned several times) cash for the developers. As soon as I get that big promotion I've been waiting for I'll spring for a balls-out server too. :O)
Yeah I don't think that this thread was started as a bitch about the game, but a plea. A few of use still play the game and have a great time talkin' with the same people that we have played a few times almost every week for the past few years. Not to mention a lot of us have met at conventions, etc. I think there is a frustration within the community (community=me) to have the game updated. I think a lot of us would be happy with just some minor adjustment, like more control over server settings, add some game enhancements (many threads about this). This isn't about the money, it's about a game we love and the friends we have made. Even though I don't think a lot of us vets will leave, we know that we find ourselves playing less because of the boredom and other things. I believe that if GG made an update and used some of the ideas that the community has put forth (plus the community in general) they could make the money back.
I still have a lot of faith in Joe. He was smart enough to make this game :). It's his nacho addicted sidekick that has me worried.
Here's my simple wishes for an update:
High-Def pack with better models.
More official maps.
More server hosting tools, etc.
In-menu tank skin selector. (It would still probably be client side, though.)
Server list chat lobby.
Those are REALLY simple to do, I am sure even a small developer like GG/BT has time for those.

BTW TT2 may *not* necessarily be a good thing for *this*community: what if the game sucks? Often every game version has a different community if the change is drastic. TT2 will be entirely different - and maybe the vets won't like it. ;)
That's why these would be enhancements and not a re-develpoment.
:o)
Hmmm maybe this is why we never had a response from Joe.

Congrats Joe!
@Joe
I had a baby too I call him star, he is my 5th star. Not as cute as yours but it took me 1000 tries to get him. XD

Yeah uh huh blind your really gonna make a commercial? If you do we might have a flood of tt players and noobish demos or players and we'll all be pissed coz no1 will be able to get into the good servers anymore so google ok but not the t.v. Thing
Dude you should be ashamed of yourself. That makes no sense nor is it relevent. Please someone delete that
If you do [make these commercials] we might have a flood of tt players and noobish demos or players and we'll all be pissed...
Erm... You may wanna restate/rethink that one......... X/
@ NUTS!:
Hey man, I just really wanna say how much I appreciate your enthusiasm and interest in this. It's the guys like you that keep the game and the community sparking :) !

That kid's got the biggest schlong in town.
Still no excuse for the de-evolution of TT, though.

Garagegames, the future of ThinkTanks is slipping through your fingers. Bravetree produced a timeless gem that just needs a little polish to make it shine. I present to you as evidence the user community's improvements. Making it easier to host and admin dedicated servers and support for modding are what is needed. By incorporating these improvements into TT2 I think you would have a classic that would continue to generate income for years to come.
Have you guys seen the maps that the community has come out with? You should capitalize on our efforts. I'm even willing to pitch in. I've figured out how to get high quality movies of ThinkTanks onto Google Video. I would enjoy making ThinkTanks videos that could serve effectively as commercials to interest potential buyers.
ThinkTanks has a difficult hurdle ahead of it though. To justify the expense of the polish, TT needs to generate the requisite revenue. The TT player base is so spread out that lag is a persistant problem in its servers. It needs more players in their regions' servers to improve performance enough to sell itself to the demo players. So, which comes first, the players or the polish?
I understand the difficulty Bravetree had with expending resources on improving TT, but GarageGames ought to have enough specialized talent to efficiently put on the polish. So how about it GarageGames, can't you see the potential here? Throw us a bone, will ya?
