@b
Is there enough time to get 30 pts just sitting in the goal, im not so sure, maybe by 30 good spwans.
@stealth
I have broken 25 many times its a challenge but not enough for an elite scrummer, u would have about 70%-80% as elites with that challenge.

How bout a simple application and voting system among this thread. MOST of the best TT players read the forum and recognize most of the other players and who's who. Have a simple, get XX amount of votes from people in the forum and your in. Ofcourse certain people/spammers would be excluded from voting and you could pick who those poeple are.
Then each 'applicant' that gets voted in would have a probabtion period of a week or two to live up to their newly aquired {ES} badge.
I think it could be the start of a working system.
I got 25, but I can't upload pictures, and I lost the screenshot.
@Stealth
While I appreciate your intentions for trying to establish an elite scrummers club, all of the guys make valid points about your suggestion's flaws, which would make your club invalid. I think everything imaginable has been tried, so it's really not going to work. The only thing that will work is establishing a TT Hall of Fame for each type of skill (solo scrum, team scrum, battlemode, team battlemode and CTF--I don't think survivor deserves consideration, neither does keep away). All Hall of Fames require a voting system...period. For example, you don't see Major League Baseball developing a series of tests that ballplayers have to pass in order to get inducted into their hallowed halls in Cooperstown! No, it is based not only on statistics, but also perception and reputation (character seems to be an issue too).
Thus, the TT community needs to establish an inaugural registration system for members (much like z has done so well on here!) and let us all vote on the first class of players that should get inducted into the hall of fame for their respective games. Once inducted, these members can then create an old-timers committee (veterans committee) that can then vote on future inductees to the Hall. I think the general public should still have sufficient power to vote players into the Hall too. We can't leave the responsibility to just one of these two groups because there would be major controversies. For example, members of the veterans committee (Hall of famers) all have personal favorites and cliques. They could possibly prevent a fantastic player from ever being inducted into the Hall of Fame because of personal feelings and biases or resentments born in competition. Also, we shouldn't leave all of the responsibility to the general community because it might then become a popularity contest. A delicate balance must be established.
So, there must be a Hall of Fame for all TT games. The question then becomes...how do we vote the best players into the Hall and who votes?

Was that for b???
@stealth I know its not easy but the only test to become an elite scrummer is the goal test, maybe u should have one more like play u one on one so u can assess there skills since u are the creator, non bias of course.
Like u said it took u ten tries, a lukcy spwan here a lucky spwan there and your in. U shoudn't reward luck.
@LC50, did you get this much flack when you tried to set up the 40 and over club?
If it's so dam easy, then why don't you try it! I see a bunch of people talking, but no screenys! There's no way you can get 30 points by just camping and letting the bots bring you the scrum.
Unless you cheated and modded your self a speed boost or managed to extend the clock or rig your spawns! You know how hard it is to score 10 points every 5 minutes? That's 1 point evert 30 seconds! Possible? Sure... Easy? HELL NO!!!
Not just anybody is going to be able to do this! I guarantee you that those who do will have to work at it! Now sense I scored 27, I'll raise the standard to 27. This IS a worthy test to become a member of the Elite Scrummers Club!
@ All, As Bolo, mentioned in my last ES thread... There are a handful of talented Battlemoders who chose not to participate in the 40 and over club. Like Leopard and The Professor... Well the same thing applies here man... You don't have to join if you don't want to! It's all good... We all know who you are and you have nothing to prove... But just because you don't want to be a member of the club doesn't mean you have to knock it! You don't see Leopard ragging on and talking shit about LC50's 40 and over club!
Humph...
@ Vash, I hear ya bro... Believe me... Luck is just a small portion of it. There's no way in hell you're going to score 27 points in 15 minutes on luck alone, (especially in Freudian Flats) Now on the same token, there's no way in hell you're going to score 27 points on skill alone either.
Trust me... It's a worthy test! If you don't believe me, try it yourself! I'll bet that you can't do it in less than 10 tries (without cheating)! And if you do, then congratulations! You're truly worthy of being a member of the Elite Scrummers Club!
By the way, that post was for everybody, but Bolo in paticular... Whereas it was his post that set the stage for this whole dispute.

I believe u for sure, I've just for fun been trying to see how many goals possible one can score during a game. I averaged about 36 sec. A goal, to reach 27 would have to around 34 or less sec. A goal u r right about both skill and luck are involved, I still think there should be an eval of some kind.
Note to self "Don't critic anything Stealth does."
Sniper
Er, um....how do you take a screeny?
I'm not big on believing something like this is needed -- will probably give too many people another unneeded boost to their exagerrated senses of self worth...
But, when a good idea comes to mind, I gotta spew it...
How about 25 or more qualifies you for a selection vote by an election committee.
Now, who would be on the selection committee?
@Vash
Great point! I just gave it a shot for fun while at work and only got to 21 and the bots got 3 themselves because of my spwans from hell!
I've played games where I got lots of fb's and incredible spawns for several quick scores in a row. However, that doesn't happen often.
So it would be skill AND luck.
@44
Wonderful idea. Would fit right in with the whole Hall of Fame process. Only members of the 40 plus club could vote in the battlemode hall of fame process and only members of the elite scrummers club (25 goals) could vote in scrummers hall of fame process. I think that was Stealth's intention, somewhat. To establish a gauge for scrummers similar to the 40 plus club for battlemoders. I just like your idea on not letting that result determine who is a hall of famer (elite member) or not. I think there are a lot of hall of famers who probably couldn't break 40 points in battlemode or 25 goals for whatever reason...however, if you put them in a real game, then watch out!
@Sniper
LOL! My thoughts exactly! Stealth will mellow very soon when he becomes a pappa.
@Stealth
Don't take anything personally, especially Mr. Bolo! If you do, then you will blow a gasket! You will need every ounce of energy, focus and sanity for the road ahead of you....the highway to parenthood!
@SteAlth:
I'd like to see you get 20 or more on the PTT camper-free scrum server within the 15min limit. :) My record is about 16 / 17.
-Z-
Thanks Paisano! You're a good man! I like your attitude! :)
@Sniper and everyone else... Sorry if my post is a bit over the top. It just makes me mad when I put so much time and effort into something just to have it shot down without a chance, or a good reason. I would like for you guys to at least try to become Elite Scrummers. It's not as easy as it looks...
GOOD LUCK!!!
@-Z-, I'll give it a shot... I'm pretty confidant that I can do it. Considering that you hardly camp when taking the test. You don't have time to camp... You're too busy trying to beat the clock.
Thank You,
SteAlth {ES}

@Stinkyfingers... 2 ways... The easiest would be to push the "printscreen" botton on your keypad. Then going to "Paint" (usually located in your start menue or accessories), click on edit, go to paist, then save.
The best way to do it is press ctrl P while playing. This'll take a screenshot. You can hold 6 screeny's at a time. You then go to your TT folder and you'll be able to open up your screeny's and save them.
From there you got to webhost it. If you don't have an account with uploadit.org or Yoxio, you can e-mail it to me, I'll webhost it for you and e-mail the link back to you. From there you can post here by using the image brackets.
Hope that helps :)
SteAlth {ES}
Thanks stealth...does that work on a mac too?
Comon guys im not trying to disrespect anyone....im not dis-ing stealth's skill either....just stating the obvious
Any scrummer who can swipe from bots can get 15 or so. If they dive like mad and use the terrain to beat the bots to the goal like mad they can buy another 5 or so....insane shooting will buy you a few more....the rest comes down to luck.....
Breaking 20 with the standard bots is a bit#$....with luck u can approach 30....if all gold light bots are in the server it gets much harder....then breaking 20 is difficult....in BM and scrum I find it more of a challenge to totally shut them out....its really hard to do and with bad luck it can be impossible...its still fun.....BTW I have broken 20 in indie with human players...lots of luck but skill there as well....ive also been blown away by a noob with no skill and amazing FB's...comes with the game...
This method of measurement involves intense camping and diving more than anything....both tactics of scrum but by far not the only tools in an elite scrummer's toolbox....
Also many people will try this over and over again til luck goes their way...to me that doesnt prove their skill but just a matter of luck....if I played some moron 50 games I guaruntee u I would lose several games due to luck....
Many people in the 40 and over club tried over and over and finally made it....95% of the elite BMers arent in the list....i just wanted to see how hard it was so I tried it ONCE and then posted. I thought it was boring......what does the 40 and over club prove?? That you can constantly chase smokers?? You need good aim but believe me getting 40 doesnt mean a whole lot when going against an experienced BMer....night and day difference...u gots to have the "moves"
We know who the elites are
B
Thank you Bolo, I appreciate your input. Sorry if I was a bit over the top... I was just frustrated with the way you worded that initial post of yours. This is an 8 month work in progress.
I felt disrespected by your post and would still appreciate it if you would delete it, or better yet edit it with your own screeny of you completeing the test.
You're entitled to your opinion and I respect that, but please don't go around slandering my work aimlessly!
Luck is just a small portion of it. There's no way in hell you're going to score 27 points in 15 minutes on luck alone, (especially in Freudian Flats) Now on the same token, there's no way you're going to score 27 points on skill alone either. It's a test that factors in all of the variables... Luck and skill alike.
Trust me... It's a worthy test! If you don't believe me, try it for yourself! I'll bet that you can't do it in less than 10 tries (at least not without cheating)! And if you do, then congratulations! You're truly worthy of being a member of the Elite Scrummers Club!
I hope you have a change of heart and decide to grace us with your honorary membership!
@Stink, what's a mac?
Stealth I realize its mostly skill...i dont see the point of me playing 20+ games over and over waiting for that one lucky game that puts me in the 30...if it happens ill post it for u k? I thought about repeating the 40 and over test a few times to try and top OM and the rest....but whats the point?? Most of the 40+ members are some of my best TT buddies...lets not turn it into a pissing contest...we do enough of that already...
What is the big deal about this club? Stealth most of us know u are one of the best...you need not prove anything more..
B
Stealth,
If your serious in asking;
@Stink, what's a mac?
Please give me your address so I can come over there and just back hand you across the face.

LOL LilAlienD XD No.. I'm not serious... I just like poking fun an you Macaronis. It's funny how you're all so tight. Actually Stink, I don't know anything about macs, but maybe LilAlien could answer your question :)
@Bolo, I'm not trying to prove anything, this is just for fun. It's also a good challenge that'll test peoples skill and ultimately help them to improve. I remember when Hanksta was announcing his break from the game he said something about teaching others and watching their skills develop. Well this is also kind of like my way of passing on the torch. This test will force people to challenge themselves and improve. My primary interest is the greater good the community (always has been). If someone takes the time to practice and ultimately pass my test, they're going to get better at what they do.
It's not an easy test, the people who pass it legitimately, will earn the right to call themselves Elite Scrummers.
But I sense there's a deeper reason for you opposing my club. What is it? If you want to talk in privet, you can e-mail me... dh0rt0n@hotmail.com
@ ALL, PLEASE DO NOT JOIN THIS CLUB TO PROVE ANYTHING TO ANYONE BUT YOURSELF!!!
Last edited: Thursday, June 10, 2004 at 2:49:59 PM
Naa some people just dont like to prove anything or associate with clubs in general...i kinda am too....almost all the best BMers havent posted on LC's 40 and over club....just no interest....believe me if I can do it these guys can too!! Take some time and show people some of the stealth moves...its fun...
B
Well Stink,
If you hit COMMAND+SHIFT+3 it'll take a screenshot. What format it takes it as depends on your OS and Set-up. Since I use two monitors it takes it as a multi-page PDF, then I have to take just the one page in photoshop and crop what I need.
I gave it a shot again and I hit 24 on my second and third tries... And then 23....and then I quit...
I took a screenshot of the last game....which overwrote the other screenshots I took and forgot to save...
Oh well... I might try again, but it gets so tidious and boring after a while!
You start cussing at Hum for his dead aim!
Denks lil D I'll give it a poke.
Ps...wats a mac?
I just saw this thread today. Getting 27 seems like a serious challenge, but then again, I'm not a true Elite scrummer. I just tried this, by creating a server with 6 Expert Bots in Light tanks to go up against. I got 18, a hair away from 19, but the timer ran out. I'm not sure if going up against all Light experts, as opposed to the default Bot fare is harder or easier. Something tells me harder, because there are no Heavies or Mediums that you can outrun. It was basically a Light tank barrage on my arse the whole time, pelting the terrain all around me as I scurried toward the goal.
It's a challenge no doubt, but I guess it can be done with enough practice, and a good dose of luck.
Use the shockwave bots....all light gold bots is much harder....to break 20 is the challenge for them...
B
@stealth
Since the elite scrummers club is your baby (get it? Ha ha), what are the ground rules? Bolo mentioned changing the bots, as did OM.
Which bots count? Which maps? Does it matter if it's lush or frantic? Just wondering...
Stink,
I will fly to Japan damn it!!! Always wanted to go anyway XD
Yo stealth don't listen to these fools a score of 27 with the bots is awsome score...keep on practicing with the bots they need love too ;)
No no no...
If your serious in asking; What's a mac? Please give me your address so I can come over there and just back hand you across the face.
Ps...wats a mac?
Although... Saving Silverman does come to mind, Steve Zahn (Wayne) and Amanda Peet (Judith) when they beat the shit out of each other and end up together...... Umm...... Wait.....
No! Shut Up!
Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I think the idea of getting 25+ Points and becoming eligable for review is a great idea.
Possible rules:
-use the default bots on a shockwave server (the number, tanky type, and skill level of the bots makes a big difference)
-dont host the server yourself because it is too easy to modify things
-no end of game screenies...need proof that its scrum your playing
-decide on a map. Some maps are much easier because no matter where u spawn u can traverse the map quickly using the arrows. Other maps are hard if u have to constantly run around...
-dont edit the thing in a graphics program...this will have to b the honor system
Stealths screeny looks like freudian on his own server...
Paisano's is an end of game shot
B
@Bolo
Great suggestions. Everything sounds solid, except for not hosting a server. How can you prevent players from joining the game and spoiling your score? I mean, even demo's and noobs would eff things up enough, right?
Playing on a public server is the only way people can be sure you are not changing anything. The bots AI scripts are publicly released and its too simple to change anything you want about the bots. Also changing spawn points for the flag, goal, player, etc....i never trust anyone on their own server....
I know what you mean....this morning really early there were NOBODY in any scrum servers so I decided to pick on the bots...i had 5 or so when 4 demos came in all at the same time!!....they stayed til the last few minutes of the game...i still managed to get 19 but with 4 demos completely blocking the entrance it took forever to BM all of them to get in the goal...
B
Edit: it seems I did hit ctrl - p....i ended up with 20 and shut out everyone else...the demos were gone by then and all I have is an end of game screenshot
The next time there is nobody around ill give it another try...

The only way I can see this working would be for someone trustworthy to set up a public server (say like SteAlth since this is his club) with a standard 5 or 6 Bots to mimic a shockwave server, and only allow one human player at a time in. That way only one person could play (no DEMO's or others to come in and screw things up) and it would be a controlled server, so no-one could cheat by changing Bot AI, spawn locations etc, and claim they scored 35 points or something crazy.
The only reason I had created a server when I first tried this is because I was trying it at work (shhhh not a word ;) ), and I can't see the servers because of Firewall restrictions. So my only recourse was to do a Create Server, since QuickPlay only gives you Battlemode.
@OM
Great suggestion. I was thinking the same thing about having an official Scrum testing Server as you suggested.
Why isn't there a quick play for scrum??!!!
@pai-
Why isn't there a quick play for scrum??!!!
My guess is, way way back when BraveTree made TT, they didn't realize Scrum would be such a popular gametype within the community. If you never venture online, TT seems like just a BM game. Quickplay, Target practice, Solo mode, they are all BM oriented.
Hopefully someday when a new update to TT comes out, they will include a function to choose what type of Quickplay you want, although I imagine that would be low priority at this point.
Sniffle sniffle :( everyone gave up on trying to become a member of my club. Oh well, so I'm the only member... ;)

This is an exclusive club for only the most talented of scrummers!
How to become a member...
Obtain a score of 27 or more in a standard, 15 minute lush server, and you're in! (easier said than done) Here's my contribution... I chose Freudian Flats... I played against all the standard bots on default settings. Took 10 tries! But I finally did it. Whew...
