I heard on the news from some hunters that quail hunting is very dangerous especially to the hunting dogs. Hundreds of dogs get shot. It is very dangerous. I think Cheney was following his quail and the lawyer didnt warn anyone that he was approaching. BAM!

Rule of thumb for Quail hunting partner choosing.

First take your potential hunting partner skeet shooting.

If he closes one eye while shooting, do not go out with him at any time. One eye shut means he can only see a limited amount of air space.

If he shoots with both eyes open, go out with him. shooting with both eyes open takes some practice but gives you better accuracy and a much larger field of vision. .

And finally do not go anywhere near Cheney. Given what I understand as to the depth that the shot penetrated (they say there is shot lodged near his heart) the poor old guy was within 15 yards of Cheney. Cheney should have known that he was there and adjusted for it.
