OKKKAY, I've lived through a 4-day silence :) However, silencing just seems to make people MORE MAD and be ANGRIER, so they had more steam to let out than ever before. Really, does anyone share my view?

Somebody silence this guy.

Actually, I think that when Gort gets back, he'll be about as happy as a cat in a car wash. He had his spam thread shut down. Actually, I think that he DID set a world record: most likely to get silenced for trying to break a world record. And Gort, if you read this, dont take it personal. Im only saying that it was noobish to try and break that kind of record.

Who says I can't be 12 and faster than all of you?

^ My point exactly. Silencing makes people MAD, therefor they spam/cuss/flame more.

Any rational person will not get silenced in the first palce. Come on now if you think being a jerk or spammer is cool in the first place you are about as ignorant as they come. If a person who is silenced then comes back and is so mad they just act the way they did and doesn't learn why they were silenced in the first place needs to find another means of fun. They are just wasting everyones time and energy here. Soap all you do is belittle people with worthless comments just to bring them down and make them feel like the work they do is not worth anything. I haven't a clue why you even bother to come to tt and or ptt for that fact. You seem to think everyone is an idiot and can't do any thing. So I suggest you learn from your silence or just leave ppl alone. Go ahead and call me names if it makes you feel better, but to tell ya the truth I'm about sick of you and your stupid post and comments to everyone. Who the hell do you think you are anyway? Your just another person here with nothing to add but rude comments to ppl trying to have fun. Do you act the same in tt as you do in ptt? If so then your probably impostering and ruining the fun there also.( no I do not know for a fact you imposter). But how many times now have you been silenced? How many times have you called people names? How many times have you posted rude comments after someone worked hard making something? Negative feedback is one thing but rudeness is another. You never try to help the person do better you just belittle them. You may be a vet in tt but in my opinion your a noob in ptt. You just don't get it for some reason.
EDIT
And before you tell me to stay off your thread also as you did woo. This is my last comment here.

PTT does not = America
PTT is a privatly run forum, they can run it how they want. If they don't want annoying little pests, then they silence them. I think thats being to kind. Why do you or anyone else think they have rights here? Hey the admins could all become big jerks, then we would all leave and not come here, they know that. If you don't like how thiks are run, donations may help your cause, or start your own PTT.

Gq, gq, gq... Take it easy, calm down, take chill pill. He wasn't trying to take a pot-shot at you. He was only stating his opinion. One thing I've noticed is your reaction always seems to be on the extreme defensive, even at the most innocuous things. I DON'T think this is a "stupid post" as you so eloquently put it. This thread could have so easily started into a debate about what else you could be doing to better control the "troll population".

I totally agree with soapy, silencing DOESN'T work - unless it's used long-term, unfortunately I can't think of any better solutions, but that doesn't mean their aren't any.

People DO make mistakes, people DO judge people wrongly, people say and do things which in retrospect shouldn't have been said or done. I think you need to use your judgement and be able to use a little lenience sometimes.

How many times have you posted rude comments

I take quite alot of your post to be hypocritical, and infact, incredibly rude.

BS- Everyone can think befpre they type. If not then don't post, 95% of the people here do. If we can think before we type to make sure were not pissing everyone else off why shouldn't the rest of the idiots do it too?. Should we make an exception for them because there stupid?

Incredibly rude.

Hehe my liscense plate in high school was RUDE9 , figure it out.

I don't know if silencing someone 'works' for this person, but I know it works for the rest of the PTT population.

Given how friendly and relax we are, if someone is annoying enough to get banned by one of us admins, well it's called see you later.

We silence/ban not for the offender's sake, but to protect the PTT majority from some tedious folks.

Heh Soap,

Silencing is only done to ones who have been misbehvaing on the forums. You were silenced due to your arguements and "harassment" of players on the OC forum. You were found to have started a flame war in this forum, insulting players, and somewhat provoking the flame war altogether. You should be grateful to have only gotten a four day silence, because of your multiple demerits in the forums. In truth, you would probably have gotten a silenced-for-life punishment if it weren't for the fact you only diss players, and not actually threaten them. Remember, Soap, this was not the first time we have caught you insulting players with your rude comments. In nearly every army that you considered "n00bish" , you have posted at least one rude remark. I suggest you no longer do these things, unless you want a permanent silence or ban.

^ What's with the split personality?

I find issue with soap's statement for several reasons.

Silencing is an effective means of controlling the actions and message of a member.

If anyone has at all been reading the forums, they would notice exactly what GQ stated is TRUE.

Soap on occasion, will post a decent message, but more-times-than-not, will directly insult someone, or something someone did.

While this may not be enough to get someone silenced or banned, it will however engrain a pattern for that particular person. When mods or admins see this patter replayed over and over, it natural to have less tolerance for it. There are a minority of players that will get a quick silince because of the history they themselves have painted on the PTT canvas.

It appeared many were happy when a "I'm leaving " thread was started by Mr. Scrum. I doubt he's hear to make friends, or is simply terrible at it. Why are you back by the way?

@SoapScrum~ MI ~

Introspection noun the examination or observation of one's own mental and emotional processes : quiet introspection can be extremely valuable.

Ask yourself, "why am I doing this?". Always be honest with yourself, there's nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Thats an excellent one. I would also add to that 'How would I feel if the other person said/did/etc to me". The old wear the other persons moccasins for a day.

Not many. Those of us who have been here for a good length of time can remember some instances where silencing worked very well. Some of our "5 star" members have been silenced in the past. They learned from it, and when they returned, they modified what they were doing.

Maybe you can see the silencing as an opportunity for personal growth, and put it to good use.

Throwing insults at other members really has no purpose, and "letting off steam" is probably #1 on the all time lame excuse list.
