This is seriously not a lie It has been in three papers and the New Yorker

Canary Island, off the coast of Africa. It, [basiclly th crater on top of a huge underwater volcano cliff] will fall into the see in aprox. 6-20 yrs from now. Ths creating a HUGE Title wave more than 2,000 ft. High, sweep across the ocean, and well, BOOM. Wipe out almost all of RI, demolish Cape Cod, And destroy Half of the rest of the New England Eats Coast.

{shivering at the thought} Calafornia and New Mexico are nice this time of year? Right?

I say death to THE new england. Once the prime minister falls, england will fall into a facist state of government, run by demonic twitchy eyed people... Who will save us?

Remember remember the 5th of november...

Pardon my rudeness, I cannot abide useless people.

I am in new england too.

Ok, this rumour has been around since about 1996. I hardly think it will happen soon...

But... I mean... It IS possible.

U may want to fix title wave to tidal...unless u mean words will come out of the sea and destroy this wutchya-ma-call-it place :S

Ok guys lets clarify this. I am a geologist so I have a few clues about this sort of thing. When someone preditcts that someing may happen in the next couple of years you have to realize that there is a huuuuuuge margin of error. Its like the BIG quake in California. It COULD happen tommorrow or 10,000 years from now, so don't start selling all your real estate in New England just yet. And to clarify another thing, a 2000 ft tidal wave would wipe out most of the east coast from Florida to Nova Scotia and go hundreds of miles inland. Remember the footage from Deep Impact - a good indication of the damage.
But I still wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Then again I am 800 miles from the nearest coast and have a mountain range between me and the ocean. You might take up surfing as a precaution.

Hehe. Those of us in the Midwest have the New Madrid fault line to think about. It's been predicted to pop for several years now - evidently it's overdue (geologically speaking). Last time it kicked off it rang church bells in Philadelphia and made the Mississippi run backwards (according to lore). I'm 6 hours away from it in Kansas City and we'll lose quite a few of our buildings. St Louis is only 2 hours or so from it and will most likely get hammered. B)

Will Toronto be okay? I think everyone is more concerned about Toronto.

Say, off topic, but does anyone notice how much the main character of "V for Vendetta" looks like Jack White from the White Stripes?

And they're signed to an indie label called "V2 Records"... Hmm... Conspiracy theory time! :o
Anyways, this is a creepy concept. IT'S ANOTHER SIGN OF THE APOCALYPSE! *ducks under the nearest table*
