I found out that I can't host full 10 player games. TT generates 30 KB/s(245 Kbps) for a full game and my cable connection tests at 220 Kbps (upload). Rogue said my server started lagging with 5 players. So I'm going to try some new game formats that might fit on my connection.

First I'm going to try a 1 on 1 game that gives each player a bot. Paisano got me thinking about this with his King of the Hill thread. I've played a few games in this format on dash's server and thought it was fun. Please let me know if you like or dislike and feel free to suggest improvements.

Next I'll try a 2 on 2 game with:
1) 2 bots per team that will leave as human players enter
2) 2 bots per team that will stay

Hold up BC. There was absolutely no lag in your server at all. I was strictly speaking of the morons that showed up with nobody there to boot them out. If you have chat logger you may want to check that. Was kind of funny, in a why even bother playing way, because I left the Shockwave server to play at you moderated server and the goons followed.

Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.

Invite a retard to a picnic and you'd better expect to get drool in the potato salad.

Doh! OK, I'll send out the admin password next time I put up regular games. I was watching the meter during your games though and I think I should cap the total at 7 to keep within bandwidth.

Hey BC, very intersting. How can I watch the upload bandwidth "meter" that you mentioned? I would be curious to see where I'm at on my server.

I use MenuMeters for Mac OSX. An excellent utility and it's especially interesting for my dual processor machine because I can watch each processor's use by seperate percentages.

Cool utility BC. Thx, I've always been curious to see when I am pushing the limits of the connection. Can't wait to check this out!

Hey BC, I've downloaded MenuMeters, but all I get is a System Pref's pane. Is there an actual app somewhere that I have to open?

That's all Spunky. You configure it using the preference pane and it displays in the menu bar. I use CPU: percentage, and Network: Graph and Throughput. Check out the panel displays by clicking on the menu bar displays.
