I can't help but think how cool it would be to integrate dash's observer code into the league games. Basically the captains observe the match and direct their players from a bird's eye view. The server could be expanded to handle 6 players per team, so we could still have the 5-on-5 format and I wouldn't think the 6th player (captain) would slow things down since s/he isn't transmitting any tank data, only chat text.

Of course, the captains have to be able to control themselves and not jump into the fray. They'd also have to be careful to make sure they only broadcast to their team.

So, what do you guys think?

I'm a captain, and although I think the idea has it's novelties, I joined to play and would want to play more than I would want to watch. I think most captains would feel the same way. I think one of the players who is scheduled to sit out that week could certainly do that.

Art Crazy is currenlty developing a script that would allow you to follow certain players as if they were in-tow. That would be interesting as some players get on a hot streak and may supply some good footage if recording the game.

We don't chat much when playing and I don't direct at all during tbml games. I also might go nuts up there in the clouds watching.
It would be fun though to let a 6th player from each team watch the game.

Umm...this may not be supported for the TBML (meaning having the team captains be like 2 Generals who sit in comfy quarters telling the soldiers what to do), however I do think that this has some possibilities in a slightly different field.

%) Think Tanks Chess League! XD

I totally agree that it would be soopa cool to let two sitters watch the game. That way we could all gain some further tactical experience, since it can be rather difficult to fully analyze a game when playing it.

Additionally, sometimes alternating by using an Observer script during team scrimmage, would be the perfect way for captains to coach their team. That way the captains could pinpoint the *exact* things that their subjects are doing wrong, where they oughtta be instead and suchlike.

T.T. Chess!! I vote for that as a new form of game type.
