Any art program with the ability to save JPEGs is fine. The most common is probably Photoshop, but you could anything really.
The best is photo shop or PSP7

You need X11 to run GIMP though...you should already have it if you have a Mac, but just in case you don't I thought I would post the link to it.
Do u need to play online in order to see ur new skin... When I do quick play, it only quits out. I just got the game back about a week ago, so I am a little rusty too...

I use photoshop, but mainly a program called graphics converter because I'm such a tard at using filters and gradients in Adobe.
