Here are some better ones, saved as PNG's to show transparancy
Only one I'm missing is the heavy
Fine...
Pardon my rudeness, I cannot abide useless people.
Well, unless I gave out my psd. There's not much I'd do except make it transparent again and keep it the proper size.
I HAD TO DO THAT IN APPLE WORKS... I think it was pretty good... I am getting photoshop soon :)))

And I like ices better too... :/

Impressive for using appleworks. Labor intensive. Look up GraphicConverter, it's a free demo and it can do some stuff. (not as much as photoshop, of course...) It's only available for Macs.
I now have graphics converter... It is awsome... And I like the "spray can" feature in apple works. Also, I can't figure out how to do gradients in graphics converter.

Nice!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy shiznat... This is from a LONG time ago... Wow, I was, like... Huh.

Gimp can even do basic painting. P.O.'ed that it can't draw straight lines? Hold down SHIFT while drawing. Geometric shapes? Just make a brush for them. Piece 'o cake. It puts Photoshop to shame.
As for the labeled template, mind telling us which side each plate's on?
Photoshop is decent in macs

Pixen lets u go work with individual pixels

And because of that, you'd need to fill in, if my calculations are correct, 262,144 pixels. No, I'm sticking with GIMP. It's free, open-source, and KICK-@$$. Plus, if I want a pixel-by-pixel editor (useful for making avatars), I go with ArtIcons.
OMFG!!! This is the one year aniversary of this thread... Locketh, anyone?

No you can if you want to, but u can work with fatso groups too. I only have appleworks otherwise

5 questions to ask youself when picking an image editor:
1. Does it support layering?
2. How many tools does it have?
3. Does it have any useful/interesting effects?
4. Is it easy to use?
5. How much does it cost?
Just a guide. I'd be curious to know how "Pixen" stacks up with those compared to the Gimp.
... Sigh.

Hee hee hee... This thread is now about a year and a half old. And still on page 1. XD
Basic Gimp chrome tutorial:
1. Download the blank tank skin for whatever tank you´re skinning.
2. Hit Ctrl+A and add a bevel.
3. Go to Script-Fu > Distorts > Emboss.
4. Resave the file.
Here I just made a blank heavy.
Rough around the edges, but it gets the job done. ;)

No, I actually used Gimp for that. I just put it though tons of filters to get that result.

I know when I began (and I still am beginning), cutting out all the part to recolor them was one of the most painstaking parts of skin making. Below is a pic of most of the major parts of the light tank skin cut out. I admit, its not perfect, but its great for a begginer... Thanku
