Page : <1> :

I have heard many answers to this question, a guy who doesn't cry, a guy who can take and dish out a hit, a guy with a big...(something all guys have). I would like to know what you think makes a man, or a woman, my answer may be different from yours or yours may be different from others but just give me your opinion and I will give you mine.

I believe a man is someone who is brave enough to help someone in distress, someone smart enough not to get into trouble, someone wise, someone quick on their feet, someone who can control their anger, someone who is not afraid to cry. This is only what I myself believe, give me a response on this if you can I would appreciate it.

A real man is a man that hold his woman when she crys and understand even if it is a dumb little thing
A real man will protect his family or his country
A real man will cry
A real man knows how to treat a woman and his children
A real man would never raise a hand at a woman
A real man understands the word love
A real man is strong minded
A real man stays away from drugs and alcohol

The Measure of a Man is Shown in his Character, I can't Explain what a "real" man is...
it is an Unexplainable subject, Each persons view of a real man is based on their encounters wth men, problems with or about men, and Personal Male Figures they choose to look up to.

@ Free- you got that right. He's the best example of both Real and Man.

Sheena's list looks good to me. I'd also add that a real man only uses the least power it takes to do what needs to be done. (You don't need to bash someone ever. Try being kind first. If it's really important, then try using other means to get what is needed done.)

44 and the Prof have good points, too though.

A real man is able to get his remote from the floor from his couch....

A real man can show his children the fundamentals of life in an odd way....

A real man can persuade his wife to do all the chores, while he is watching his sport shows...

Actually a real man can not be defined. Depending on where they live, what they do, who they are, and so forth, technically what Freedom said in a past post. But still....a real man should be able to reach his remote without getting off his couch... XD

Real men don't ask for directions when they're lost. *heehee*

Real men are always right, never ask for directions, never cry, wouldn't be caught dead in a 'Hummer' H2 (Hummer is in quotes because the H2 makes hummers look like crap. The only real hummer still has the.50 cal mounts still on it), works, lets the women do the women work, likes going fast, drinking beer, and competing at everything including who can pass out first. (although you would never want to win) ;)

Sorry for any spelling mistakes, im on a laptop. : /

(Note: Some of those I actually meant, some I didn't. You can judge for yourself which are which)

To answer your question u must know the
difference between a man and a boy.

Boys:

1.depend upon a guardian to provide
basic needs.

2.are in a constant state of maturing
mentally and physically.

3.need direction and guidance.

Men:

1.depend upon himself to provide
basic needs.

2.are (as genetically possible) mature
mentally and physically

3.see his own way in life.

Of cousre there will be veribles but basically
this is what makes a man...

Type of men are a whole different story...

I can see u have plenty of examples of
different type of men in this thread.

@ Pyronin PBx - That's^ really funny. I was in tears.

The question is not really about what makes a man.

"Real Man" refers to a set of behaviors that a culture has defined over time.
The definition therefore not only changes over time but is subject to interpretation according to your personal individual culture.

The JC reference is accurate in the sense that Jesus, as well as other Messiah, represent a culture's ideal behavioral set for men to follow.
Unfortunately the ideal behavioral set in the US is competing with modern day idols, who are poor example of an ideal .
One of the main purposes of religion is to provide a true example to follow. Unfortunately this can be a bad thing sometimes, depending on the religion.

But anyhow...
The real question is about being "HUMAN".
What does it mean to be Human?
What does it mean to be a Human living on Planet Earth.
To behave as a human is independent of gender. (We can save the difference between men and woman for another thread.)
Look at nature for your answers. This planet has managed to stay in balance for billions of years.

- Protect life.
- Be kind to all living things. Even the ones you might have to kill.
- Care about stuff.
- Feel emotions, all of them even the ones that hurt like hell or embarrass you.
- Love someone with all the love you have, your heart is a very powerful muscle, it likes the exercise.
- Help people if you can.
- Listen to people, especial the ones you love
- Talk to people, especial the ones you love
- Pay attention to people and things.
- Grow and mature, never stop till the day you die.
- Play every day. Playing is not immature, pretending that having fun is "totally immature" is actually more immature.
- Share your stuff. Your belongings should not mean more to you than friendship.
- Respect peoples things and space.
- Keep a balance between BODY, MIND, AND HEART. All should be equally potent.
- "Fight! For Your Right! To Party!"

Some more on this subject.
