Ok so I made my own terrain from TGE! Yay! :)

But there is one problem... I can't add trees or rocks when I go edit my terrain with Mod Wiz! I mean I renamed my.mis and.ter TT1_5 and went and edited my.mis where it says new TerrainBlock to./TT1_5.ter but still it didn't work! :(

Ok so heres what I did when I finished my terrain:

1. I created my terrain from D11 (one of dash's)
2. When I got finished and edited dash's D11 to my own terrain, I saved-as and renamed it to TT1_5.mis (that automatically created a.ter named TT1_5.ter)
3. I copied and pasted those two to my TT/game/data/missions
4. I check the new TerrainBlock and it was ok because it was./TT1_5.ter
5. So I launched TT to see if it works, pressed "m" for Mod Wiz to be activated, pressed 6 (tree), but still no tree or rock for that matter.

Where am I going wrong with this? :[

Thanks.

You will have to add the first tree and rock manualy (in mis file). Then after that it should work. For some reason trees and rocks don't work on ModWiz if there [EDIT]aren't[/EDIT] allready some there. There might be anouther way to fix it though.

But in the original maps like Medulla Mesa it works. When I activate Mod Wiz in like Medulla Mesa, the trees and rocks work fine.

Woops sorry read my post again...

Just curious why you don't just place them in TGE when your making the terrain? You wouldn't need to rename anything and you would have access to more than the stock trees.

But how do I add the trees and rocks etc. IN the TGE in the first place? I couldn't even find the button!! Oh and while how do you place the jumpies and speed boosts in TGE, too? :[

Thanks.

Save all the objects which have some sort function in them to TT and place them with MW. These kind of objects would be boostpads, jumppads, reloadgates, powerups, etc. It's much easier to place them in TT. Trees&Rocks first make sure you have them installed exactly the same way as in TT. Then you can find them from the Mission Creator at TGE(or what ever it's called)

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Normally u hav eto follow this path (when u chose the 'Mission Editor Creator (or something like that ;) )).
Path:static objects/game/data/shapes
At least napalm told me to do so. I might be wrong but if I m wrong I ll edit this soon!

This is getting really frustrating. I finally added the trees in TGE. So I finally did that and went to add the boosts, jumpies and the spawn points with Mod Wizrad. When I finished I dumped the old TT1_5.mis and.ter and renamed the new Mod Wizrad map to TT1_5.mis. So I launched my dedicated server and it said that it failed to laod the.ter of new.mis I made with Mod Wiz. So my game crashed and didn't know what to do then. (But the game still works!! :P it's just that it can't get the.ter, what did I do wrong?)

Thanks.

I just posted this in another thread:

Mine works fine and I have no glitches. Works on Mac and PC!

I have not really posted "my method" But here it is.

I will usually open up a pre-existing mod that I know opens. Do a save as. I save them as unique names. I do not use the TT1_whatever method.

Then open that saved file. (Siberia)

I do all of the terrian editing I need to do excavate, smoothing, add dirt,so the map has the contour I'm looking for.

Then I look to the terrian painter. (The Expansion Pack has over 100 textures if installed)

I paint the terrains to my liking. I then place all of the objects where I want them. I'm referring to trees, grass, rocks.

Then I save that and take the saved terrian and mission file into ModWizard. (Siberia.mis & Siberia.ter for example)

In ModWizard I add all of the spawn points, the reload gates, speed pads, bounce pads, and powerups.

Save the file.

Rename the existing mis file to Siberiaold.mis

Rename the newly created mis file (MWx_y.mis) with Siberia.mis

That's all there is!.

In my method, I do not place objects (trees and rocks) in mod wizard, and I do not place spawn points, gates, or pads in TGE. You have to make sure your using the correct path in TGE though.

Yes, but sometime their useful as starting points for other mods. As long as you have a new.ter and.mis file, yes it shouldbe ok to trash the old ones. The thing I noticed is that if you do a save as, in many other applications you'd be working on the save as version. In TGE I believe it just saves a copy, but you're still working on the first copy unless you actually open the saved as version. A bit strange.

Let me know if you need anything else. :)

Ok it still doesn't work I am really getting fed up with this stuff 8( :

Here is where I finished my.mis and.ter when I closed TGE:

Ok... What tha hecks up with this? In the TGE "game" folder it had numbers, now look at it:

And finally when I tried to launch it...

Might be my game or that I am a lousy scriptor but I try my best to fix something.

Thanks, any help would be greatly appriciated. :[

Napalm I am waiting for Warfareİ to answer soon. It is because I talked to Warfare a while ago and he thinks he knows the problem. NEVA DIE, CaNnEdSpLaM, and ScythMan made their own first terrain while I am still suffering this tragedy. :[

I hope there is a correct answer to this problem soon.

Thanks.

So you made sure you put all those numbers back into the mission file right?
if so read on....

So I finally did that and went to add the boosts, jumpies and the spawn points with Mod Wizrad. When I finished I dumped the old TT1_5.mis and.ter

You didnt delete the ter file did you??
you dont have to do anything with the terrain when you do something in mod wizard.....
all you have to do is replace the mis file.....

I am still thinking about this tho so e-mail me every slightest step you take making this happen if you want
otherwise, I would try word for word one of the tutorials in the modding resource

I wish I could answer more but I dont have alot of information...

I'd have to have a copy of the.mis and.ter file ,, If I find the problem ,, talk to you live via, Skype or P/M on yahoo. To show you why it don't work, and explain where you went wrong.

You shouldn't delete the terrain file from Mod Wiz. Mod Wiz only generates a new Mis file. You'll still need the terrain file. I believe I stated you could toss the old ter and mis file that was initially used in TGE not Mod Wiz. Maybe I wasn't clear on that point. Anyway, like I stated in the email the mission file should have this terrain information in it, and it does not.

};
new TerrainBlock(Terrain) {
rotation = "1 0 0 0";
scale = "1 1 1";
detailTexture = "./terrains/details/detail1";
terrainFile = "./CUC_Lush01.ter";
squareSize = "8";
emptySquares = "852064 65741 393571 197220 140653 140909 148065 84994 85250 216578 348377 414169 414425 86837 414681 87093 349401 87349 349657 87605 87861 153653 219445 219701 219957 285749 286005 220725 155445 90165 419370 354090 354346 223531 223787 158508 93787 94043 94299 96781 97037 162829 228620 294412 360204 360460 366306 366562 104513 366818";
bumpScale = "1";
bumpOffset = "0.01";
zeroBumpScale = "8";
position = "-1024 -1024 0";
locked = "true";

Don't copy it from here, copy it from your old mission file. This forum changes the formatting sometimes.

I think this will fix er up!

That right there is the perfect example of why you may want to keep the old mission files. Most people who make revisions will designate an R1, or R2 at the end of the most currently modified mission.

And, you're welcome!
