Ok folks, time for a CTF League, in a knockout style in the same manner as Tally's 3on3 Team Scrum competition and there will be a server (with a set password for each round) dedicated for the Tournament Matches which occur at a time of the teams chosing but each round must be completed within a set time limit.

All those interested in participating should say so here. Only people who are serious about it need apply, there is nothing worse than being on a team where you are continually let down by someone who cannot play. This is not only selfish, but spoils the fun for everyone involved, so please, if you have very tight windows of opportunity in which to play matches, don't sign up for this tournament. There will be others following it if this works successfully.

Of all the applicants interested, a number of them will be selected as team captains. These captains will then be able to pick their teams from all the other remaining players who have signed up.

I suck at CTF, but I would be a back up player if the time is right.

I'd be interested, but I need to know more about possible days/times when these tourney games will happen. I only have certain windows of time when I can play scheduled games.

Just to add.. By 'tight windows of opportunity' I am on refer to the situation which occured in the 3on3 tournament where some european players couldnt play during the week because their only playing time was completely different to everyone else's in the tournament. Thus matches could not be scheduled successfully.

If you can't provide game time options of somewhere in the region of 6pm - 9pm PST on at least a couple of weekdays then this is a 'tight window of opportunity'. Matche times are scheduled and agreed upon by both teams, and thus they need to be able to agree a mutual time of the week to play. The time chosen is purely a one off for that round and you wouldnt have to make a weekly commitment to it or anything, but if you are unable to provide your potential opposition with at least a couple of decent time slot options, then it will just halt the whole competition or drastically let your team down when they are forced to play a man down.

I appreciate that this makes it difficult for European players, but they are in the minority and they have often been extended every courtesy of scheduling only to often cause more problems.

I can make myself available at pretty much any time from 7a-7p throughout the week....would have a tough time making a commitment to weekend play though.

Awsome--but I'm on eastern time so 9:00pm PST is midnight for me & a little to late at night for me :[ If a realistic time can be set I would love a CTF league. I'm not sure what time zone most players are in but a 9:00pm Eastern time or earlier would work for me XD

CTF hasn't been up for several days, but I know if it is back up we can get more people to sign up. I've seen lots of players that play but don't post on Planet think tanks (ie..DIE, (UF)silbiricus?, etc.) Give me and the others a couple of days & I'm sure we can fill up the list XD

I think I will throw my hat into the ring with this. Even though there is a possibility I won't be able to attend, I'd still like to be put on the initial list. -z- I assume you would make sure there are enough players for a minimum number of teams plus a few extras in the event a few of us have to drop out, right? To make this work successfully I imagine each team would have at least 1 extra player to allow for rotations and unavoidable absences. If that's the case, I'll sign up.

It's been a while since I've played CTF regularly, but I love the game. I like it more than Battlemode in fact. (no offense to my fellow BM league teammates out there, but it's true)

Hmmmm...... I'm in... I'll try to make it but I'll need the times for when I play early so I can tell my sister when to let me on.

Let's go. Hopefully Grey, Cat, Moe, T Raider, Sexy kimmy and all the old school players will join. I see many of them have responded already. Also, It appears that many people are referring to a 9pm time, but I didn't see Z mention it.

Match times are to be organised by the two teams due to be playing each other. Teams get a week in which to schedule a match at a suitable time/day for both teams.

Its lookin' like this is coming together. I like the idea of the teams setting up schedules, I wasn't so sure about that 6-9 PST (EST myself).

Are you still going to pick a couple captains to form teams from that? Me and Corey are up for it for (FU), but its just the two of us.

Just to be clear, I DON'T want to be a team captain. Since I may have trouble making all the games, I won't have the time to manage a team. I only sayin' this 'cause I was unexpectedly made a cap in the psychoscrum league. (not that I'm complaining - in retrospect it was fun)

Uhm, I could be wrong, but if this league is to be like others, you don't get to choose what team you'll be on. You throw your name into the pool. -z-, or someone else, chooses team captains, then they have a draft process where team caps get turns to pick who they want on their team.

Afterwards you're notified what team you've been drafted to.

At least I hope it's done this way. Not to disappoint anyone, but these thoughts of pulling your own teams together may be a dream.

The thing with "leagues" is it has a password so only the "teams" can get in & times are set. I agree on the pre-league would still be fun. We can set up a time & see what kind of response it brings..I'll be there XD...how about 4-28-04 @ 6:00pm eastern?? 8o
