I have to disagree with some of my conservative pals on this issue. I understand their concerns, but I think its a knee-jerk reaction and I don't think their logic follows through. Personally, I think its a great idea. I think they should require all pornographers currently using.com (or any other domain) to move to the new domain. That way, all that has to be done to avoid such things is to add the.xxx domain to a firewall and that's that. If you want to look at it, its easier to find as well. With a.xxx domain, the process is made a whole lot simpler.

I think people are against the idea just for what it means, not for how it could be used.

But if we pretend that porn doesn't exist maybe it will just go away somehow.

^ lol... Not that I know what that is :o te hee hee. I think that the goverment is secretly going to piggyback this and get 1 dollar out of every subscripton each month. Surplus of 6 mil I would say... 8o I don't mind porn untill it gets in the way of what I am doing ( i.e., popups getting me grounded). I have a very bad habit of hitting that one site sponsored by BTP.com or something like that right when parent walks in after being away...

most of the things that pop up on my screen or direct me to a site are tracking cookies... You can get them everywhere, even msn.com
any good spyware program will get rid of them
I personaly like the idea of a.xxx domain, what if your kid has a history project on the presedents of the USA and cruises on down to the whitehouse.com ?
there is no possible way to block every single porn thing currently since everyone and their grandma can buy a domain to host porn on, but if the government promotes this new domain, you can easily block every single porn thing by blocking every site that ends with.xxx
also buisnesses that use internet can block their employees from such a site etc
it would make thing simpler and safer in my opinion

It'll also help catch child porn more if u think about it... If they find a site that doesn't have.xxx after it and it is a porn site, this means they either didn't get the message or have something to hide! Be FREE little girls! BTW, are they ever going to do something about that "lil amber" site. And they say TV is the problem. Check out that "Leagal" Kiddy porn! 8(
