Lol, I doubt there's a limit on the number of maps. Maybe a script, if you recently installed any?
Mine does exactly the same thing. Very occasionally it closes properly. I have some mods, but the problem started before I installed them.

I've been recently experiencing problems whenever I quit the game, the window will go black, and I will have to manually close the program by right-clicking>close> end now.
Is there a limit for the number of maps you can have? Is that it or is it something else?
