Forums Index >> General >> Question bout Taping/Recording TT games

Page : <1> :

I tend to like fairly blatantly obvious thread titles if anyone hasn't noticed yet XD

I tried the Search feature but there's waayyy too many threads to search and most don't even apply to what I'm lookin for. I recall once seeing a thread which talked about recording sessions of online TT games as Quicktime movies (or some other format). I remember this because I still have a sample movie of an intense scrum match in MyDocuments :P

My questions are:
-- What program do I need to accomplish this?
-- If it isn't a program but a script, where can I locate said script and how/where do I insert it into TT?
-- What formats can the video be saved as (other than Quicktime and hopefully NOT RealOne Player)
-- Basically-> How can I do this?

If anyone has any information on it, or even a guess (a 'good' guess, tho :'( ), please reply here or Email me (email in profile) the information :)

By saying its in 'My Documents' I'm guessing you'r using a PC.

You could use fraps. Available here: www.fraps.com

Hmm interesting.... I shall try out their demo version. Thanks for the link!!

However, I see that the site mentions the demo Fraps putting a watermark on the video, while I may contemplate buying the full version (unlikely, but it's a possibility) I'm still curious to know if there's a free-ware program out there that'll capture the game (video and audio).

Oh btw, yes I use a PC :)

I have a really old camcorder (like from 1990) that records to VHS. However it has a AV in and out (red yellow and white ports).

So what I could do is use the S-Video and audio out ports on my pc, run them through a few adapters and record the game with the camera. Then I could hook the AV out to my TV/audio capture card and download it back to my PC for editing.

Using a program like Gamecam or Fraps will be slow and will hog up the pc's resources.

So it is better off trying some stores or yard sales and seeing if they have a camera with AV in and out. They should be fairly cheap by now.

Or, better yet, set up a VNC server and rec it on another computer- and play from it.

Well, I'd say that if you want TO SHOW the rec on a computer with TT, you can use the -jsave and -jplay feature in TT that creates a file much smaller than a video, and lets you see the game as if you were playing (actually TT's running)

You guys talk about -jSave, and -jPlay, which I would LOVE to use to record some 1 on 1 matches, hopefully me and Tank0r with my new computer- but no one said how to operate it... Where is the saved text file located, or how do you direct TT to create one, if it is not already doing so. 8o Augh, so many questions. :P

Go to my website and look for "TT Movie info". It's pretty much all there.

AH HA! So that was YOUR site I remember seeing when this topic was discussed oh so long ago! %) Many thanks, Reagent X!
Now I must try and decipher the page because I know nothing :S I'll tackle that later when I'm semi-awake instead of semi-asleep.

So, wait. If this is possible with TT, I should be able to do it with Halo. Right? I've been interested in making a Halo video for a while. Do the same rules apply?

Sorry for bump.
