What?
where do I find it?

Download the special.cs over there
<---------
then you can add it to the bottom of the mis file for your mod, e.g.

Lighttank.defaultprojectile.emitter= "Rocketemitter";

Then at the top of the mis file add this line:
exec("game/server/scripts/special.cs");

That's it.

You have made a mod before, right?
If not I can go into more detail.

Hello tankmaster. I'm assuming you don't know the ends and outs of your computer. Which is obviously stated above. (for you others)...If he doesnt know what an emitter is. How is going to know how to make a emitter.cs and put it in the proper directory? Let that serve as a reference to liberate my point. Depending on the level of difficulty there question is prestenting its self with , don't assume "they" know anything about computers at all. It's a waste of time otherwise. WHY!!?!?

Tankmaster. Forget the whole "emitter.bullshit" file. You're not there yet. We will approach this in a more civilized manner:

O yee, DL the spiecal.cs file, which can be found in the "Other Stuff" caption of this website. Save the file into your...thinktanks/game/server/scripts folder. If you can't do that. Then ignore the rest of this endless post.

Follow these isntructions carefully. ( do please try to follow each one to excess, if you still have trouble, come crying )

Go to your "thinktanks/game/data/missions."; open the missions folder up.
there should be a list of files there, TT1_4, TT_3, TT2_2, ect.
open any one of thoes with a text editor. We'll do. "TT1_1" Which is Medulla Mesa. (make sure the file is a MIS file)
once the mis. File is opened, there will be some text in there., lots of it.
just note the top of the file, where the text begins. There should be this first line:

//--- OBJECT WRITE BEGIN ---

See it, good.
now, copy/paste the following text BEFORE that line:

Datablock ParticleData(RainbowSpiralParticle)
{
dragCoefficient = 0;
gravityCoefficient = -1.4823;
windCoefficient = 0;
inheritedVelFactor = 0;
constantAcceleration = 0;
lifetimeMS = 992;
lifetimeVarianceMS = 96;
useInvAlpha = 1;
spinRandomMin = -649;
spinRandomMax = 13;
textureName = "game/ParticleEditor/Particles/dustParticle.png";
spinSpeed = 0;
times[0] = 0;
times[1] = 0.74902;
times[2] = 1;
colors[0] = "1.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000";
colors[1] = "0.000000 1.000000 0.000000 1.000000";
colors[2] = "0.000000 0.000000 1.000000 0.000000";
sizes[0] = 1.02851;
sizes[1] = 1.02851;
sizes[2] = 1.02851;
};

Datablock ParticleEmitterData(RainbowSpiralEmitter)
{
ejectionPeriodMS = 5;
periodVarianceMS = 0;
ejectionVelocity = 4.5;
velocityVariance = 0;
ejectionOffset = 0;
thetaMin = 90;
thetaMax = 90;
phiReferenceVel = 360;
phiVariance = 0;
overrideAdvances = 1;
orientParticles= 0;
orientOnVelocity = 1;
particles = "RainbowSpiralParticle";
};

Now. After you do that. Go to the very bottom of your mis. File
you will note that the last line looks like this:

//--- OBJECT WRITE END ---

Place the following text AFTER that line:

Lighttank.defaultprojectile.emitter= "RainbowSpiralemitter";

Save it.
start up TT
go to the "create mission" in your TT.
start the Medulla Mesa up.
then you should see your o' so diligent work take effect.

Note- if you still don't know where your TT folders can be found.
Im assuming your on a PC. If so;

Go to start.
go to my computer.
go to "Local Disk (C:)
go to program files
go to Bravetree/or /Shockwave
go to think tanks, im sure you can navigate from there.

No, I can't help you with your potty training, thats another thread Bolo has already covered.

@MAX
Yah it is, I'm assuming he already looked there, due to your unclear explanations, you now have spent a good five minutes explaining something you have already done (and others) 464564 times. And will do so in the future.

Meaning:
What kind of people usally ask all the modding questions? And why do they ask these questions, when the answers they demand are right in front on there noses?

First off, in respective order. They ask these questions because they arnt experienced with computers, or they have never addented to this genre of computer usage. Also, hopefully, these people search the forums, try to answer thier questions independently, knowing with a little effort...their is no reason to act differently. The ones that do use the granted information are still FUCKED. Why? Because half the instructions/"how to's" are not being forth told with the dedication and DETAIL needed to take any effectiveness. Which is why these people have no mental comprehension and cannot understand our good deeds. Which goes back to "Who and why are these people asking these questions when all the information is right fucking here?."

So, in conclusion. We can start here.
MAX, make your explanations alot more clear on your website.
Any further explanations should be conducted with full explicity. (tanks gee)

@hossil apossil - We reach a philosophical difference. I don't think people read. I can tell by the questions they ask. They don't want to bother to search for the information. So they ask, and I tell them where to look. Fine. After doing that a few hundred times I get the distinct feeling that people are doing stuff without understanding it. When the same people come back complaining that something or other does not work, I wonder, how can this be? They don't really read. They get what they need for the moment and move on without having an understanding of what they are doing. Why do I care? Because that lack of understanding leads to lots of questions later. Which have the same answer as they did before. Read.

You know what else tells me people don't read. None of you have answered the guys question correctly.
It's

//Tank Smoke
DefaultTankFx.damageEmitter = "SmokeEmitter";
BabyBossFX.damageEmitter = "SmokeEmitter";
ufoFX.damageEmitter = "SmokeEmitter";

Where "smoke" is in the special.cs by default

NOT

Lighttank.defaultprojectile.emitter= "Shitemitter";

This is the question of someone who needs to start at the beginning.

Ok.
I'm not going to pretend I know anything about modding at all. My experience and knowledge barely scratches the surface.

@MAX
Well, the community...i believe is divided. Perhaps some do use the information and others don't. I'm not going to slap a label on the foos'.
But, as I look through the most frequesntly asked questions. I find that they are linked with the most undirected tutorials here on this forum. Which is completely logical.
For guys like you. And others. Who actually spend a decent amount of time sorting these problems out, and devote a good amount of dedication to serve as a force for the inevitable amount of questions that get asked here so frequently. I have come up with a conclusion that maybe it would be an extraorinary good idea to create a new forum dedicated to the answering of "Modding questions?".

Why?
Well, there is more then way to look at it.
For the ones that feel that it is there duty to guide these misdirected sheep.
And the ones, such as Max, who spend too much time here tending too these, these....

And most importantly. Marketing.
Ok, we all know this game of ours. Is a game with many apsects. A game that is universal.
Hell, I'd say a good majority of people are kept at bay by this game just because they have the right to screw around with a few files. Maybe, 1/3 of the money BT has pulled has come directly from these kind of people? Where do they start out? Here. But as the forums gets more and more jumbled and shit ridden. It becomes harder and harder for new players to do what they want to do. Thus, if they find any dissatisfaction with the direct source needed to accomplish there mission. BT has a slimer chance of a customer telling his freinds, freinds, freinds, freinds...buddy, about this game. Which can add up to alot of money.

So, for the sake of this community. And BT's life times saving. I propose a new forum dedicated to the answering of modding questions. Because, this one here is not getting it done.

More later...

I know, I left alot out and I can already forsee some of your comments.
