Let's rent the Sprecher Brewery for a mid-winter mid-west TT convention. They even have tasty soda for the underage/non-drinking/designated-drivers!

I call the chair next to the tap. :P

I verified and I am 19 hours driving distance away. Tell me when this will be about and I will verify to fly in instead.

I'd love to meet the ones I haven't yet.

Do we have to play the game or can we just imbibe? I firmly believe that there is one reason and one reason only to visit Milwaukee: Beer.

Sunday, August 20, 2006 at 7:11:38 PM

I'll show if my wife lets me... LOL
Doubtful. :(

Sunday, August 20, 2006 at 7:27:24 PM

@ KKB
She told me last night she has no probs with you going to Milwaukee. I mean what kind of trouble can you get in there?

Sunday, August 20, 2006 at 7:44:51 PM

I'm there.

All donations towards my international airfare greatly appreciated.

VEGAS! VEGAS! VEGAS!

Monday, August 21, 2006 at 9:42:26 AM

1. Is the beer any good?
2. Why, according to this thread, do 75% of TT players live within an hour of Milwaukee?
3. Oh, nvm, what else can you do there? (insert smiley here)
4. Love the plastic chairs and porch lattice decor.
5. Have any of you (who don't live there) ever visited M'waukee in the winter?
6. It's a great town 'n' all, but if you go there in the winter, don't take any ligatures or sharp objects.
7. Spring is much nicer; I believe spring is scheduled for April 22-23 this year.
8. Hey, this explains some people's excellent Ron Dayne uniform skins, doesn't it?

This thread started out as a joke on the "brewery rentals" link on Sprecher's website. I went ahead and emailed about renting a room on a February Saturday but got an "out till August 25" response.

We should probably figure it would be a very local gathering and start a Vegas convention thread also. Not to be negative, but Vegas is pretty busy in the winter.

@MkIV
Yes, Sprecher beer is good and very affordable. I've only had the Special Amber and Black Bavarian. I'm looking forward to sampling the IPA and Pub Ale as soon as I can find some.

Monday, August 21, 2006 at 11:55:03 AM

Is it possible to put the convention maybe an hour or 3 closer to me lol my mom said no now because milwaukee is very far away from Epping N.H. So is it possible to move it a lil bit closer to me?

P.S. Since none seem to be very close to me I might host 1 at my house XD if I do you can all bring laptops or me and my mom will go out o Legends and see if we can rent the bowling ally out because they got alot of tables to set of laptops and comps there. XD

Btw I dont see this as a joke as I was thinking about starting a thread about meeting in toronto for a canadian/midwestern tt convention. I was planning on going up there anyway to show jangles how to drink, but I thought id try and get anyone else to go as well.

A bit to far to drive alone , if some one want to drive there from NY NJ area we can talk it over.

Monday, August 21, 2006 at 6:13:02 PM

BC: I'll be in Vegas this January for work. Staying at the Golden Nugget.

Monday, August 21, 2006 at 8:52:08 PM

@bolo,

An American going to show a Canadian how to drink? Ha , I think not..

Old joke - question --- why is drinking American beer like making love in a canoe?
Answer -- its F%#king near water.

HIT ME

Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at 1:06:57 AM

Geez that's like 20 min from my house, I might be able to make it.

I used to eat a lot of natural foods until I learned that most people die of natural causes.

Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at 10:14:04 AM

I think a trip to a brewery is a FANTASTIC idea, and I'm in for mid-Decemberish! Less than 2 hours away...

Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at 9:27:19 PM

How 'bout all you guys take the beer down to someplace warm in Mid-winter. Cancun, Hawaii, Anywhere Carribian, (I'm heading Guatemala, Costa Rica and Northern Chile).

Or conversely, why don't you hook up a generator to an ice shack and play a few LAN games.

Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at 8:33:51 AM

Heh, I'm less than an hour away from Glendale. Don't know how a teen with strict parents would convince them to take him there though...

Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at 8:56:06 AM

I would seriously do the Sprecher thing. They do have a great root beer and cream soda! I think I have tried almost all of the beer from them and have been disappointed with only one so far (but my acceptable limits are known to be a little less picky than most :) ). As for the "ice shanty" idea, that could be done. I have a friend that has his own party supplies business were rents out tents, generators, heaters and such. Every winter around February (when its normally the coldest) he throws a huge partiy in one of his tents and its a blast (till you walk outside and sober up real fast)!

If we try a mid-west, Canuck idea I would suggest looking for a game playing/hosting business that can do lan parties and give us internet capabilties as well. I know there is one here in WI that can do that ( about 30 to 45 minutes from Sprecher). I would suggest tying to narrow the place down then just do a google search to find a lan place.

Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at 9:12:26 AM

Bad news. I've been to the Sprecher Brewery several times. There is a one drink maximum for groups renting out space in their establishment.

The good news: Blind Cide will be in charge of cups.

Nuts and KBC? How far are you guys from Pewaukee? About 30 minutes or so right? I'm going to be up their more often it seems. I used to be up there a lot with Quad Graphics. Now, my wife has just been offered a position with them. Actually she'll be working remotely for Quad at the National Geographic building in D.C. Although, she'll be making many visits up your way and so will I. I'll be with my little dudes though, so heading out for beers might be tough. This is of course if she accepts the job.

Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to be on my toes.

Invite a retard to a picnic and you'd better expect to get drool in the potato salad.

Midwinter in the midwest?

Brrrrr :S

Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at 1:56:54 PM

^ pfft. Pansy. Ice fishing/TT convention sounds like fun to me. On a side note, where can I get one of those cups? I need a new chalice.

Go for Canada, woman are more beautiful and extremely giving. Ah this really applies to Quebec and not the rest of Canada, oups.

Also Exchange rate is good for Americans.

Here it's really cold, mid-west is nothing. Minus 35 degrees celsius in Febuary. This fact explains somewhat the thing about our women here. LOL XD

Some Americans even say Montreal has that European flair to it without the aggravating, snobish waiters around.

The bagels are awesome also ask RX!

Think about this.

Generous woman who need to be warmed up, Alcohol and Thinktanks now that's a party.

Canadians are ROOKIES

Thursday, August 24, 2006 at 11:33:03 AM

^ I read it all Nuts , am I drunk it says nothing about Canadians. Looks like no data was compiled for Canada.

You should've posted Canadians have the Rockies ! ;)

Thursday, August 24, 2006 at 12:23:19 PM

I think he means "My liver could outlast yours in a drinking bout" :)

Thursday, August 24, 2006 at 12:35:22 PM

Sorry was drunk when I read that...

Thursday, August 24, 2006 at 12:41:02 PM

I almost spillled my beer this morning when I read this quote in the paper.

Milwaukeeans have plenty of other ways to entertain themselves that don't involve drinking alcohol.

Then I realized he was probably just joking.

Thursday, August 24, 2006 at 1:50:54 PM

Ok so we can go north during the summer then....mb do the big convention during the winter instead next year?

Thursday, August 24, 2006 at 10:47:59 PM

If you guys get a group together in Vegas, and spend even one minute playing a cartoon video game, I'm not talking to you anymore.

Friday, August 25, 2006 at 5:50:30 AM

Dude, shhhhhhhhh already. ;)

Friday, August 25, 2006 at 10:09:31 AM

Ouch , $850! So much for that location. We should probably get a LAN place like NUTS! Suggested and carpool over to the brewery for a tour.

Maybe we can just wi-fi in the parking lot.

I say we go for the tour, get some to go. Jump on the 3 hour boat (yes a ferry) to Michigan. Have dashy pick us up and we go to his place for coffee and TT.

Saturday, August 26, 2006 at 12:11:54 PM

3 hour tour eh?

Make sure to bring the Professor along so we can make some LAN connections with coconuts.

Saturday, August 26, 2006 at 12:19:53 PM

^ LMAO

Saturday, August 26, 2006 at 1:06:42 PM

3 hour tour is great, Just as long as tankgirl doesn't try to come along and be Ginger.

Saturday, August 26, 2006 at 3:57:49 PM
