Page : 1 : <2>

I have added many objects to the Expansion Pack as well as many new skies and new textures.

In this release with the help of people like KBC, Dazzle, Crapblaster, and Monica, I have been able to add many new items. If there was a download for it and I could find it, I added it.

ALWAYS TEST YOUR OBJECTS THERE ARE TOO MANY OBJECTS TO TEST THEM ALL!

A couple of resources to make things a bit easier for modders.
Click the PDF to download the Terrain Textures PDF

You can download this PDF which has visuals of all of the sky files!
Click Image, or right click and "save as"

The Expansion Pack at this time has all of the modded terrains of the TT_Mod_Pack 03/07/06.

This expansion pack will not be updated regularly. For newly added terrains continue to download the TT_Mod_Pack on Reagent X's website. Reagent X's website

Installing the Expansion Pack on your machine will greatly reduce the wait-time to join modded servers.

In the near future many mods will utilize these new elements and you won't have to wait for anything to download (providing you pre-installed the terrain) because you have already installed this Expansion Pack. The expansion Pack is called Napalm's Expansion Pack 3.0. If you have questions you can email me at napalm_tt@yahoo.com
Antything else is an older version, do not use it.

When Macintosh creates an archive of a folder (zip file) it adds additional information for resource forks and such. Windows see this but does not need it. You can ignore any folders starting with _ (underscore.) Just use the items in "Napalm's Expansion_Pack 1.1"

There are two ways this is to be installed:

1. As a normal client accessing servers. (regular player application) unless you're making terrains, THIS MEANS YOU!
2. In conjunction with TGE for modders. I consider modder developers and should have ample knowlege of installing files and modifying directories.

Here are the instructions which are also found in the Expansion Pack!

[I]Expansion Pack information

Expansion Pack consists of:
Additional texture, objects, and skies.
Textures PDF is included for reference so modder have a visual while going through the textures.
Expansion Pack includes entire Mod_Pack as of 03/07/06

************MAKE A DUPLICATE OF YOUR THINK TANKS DIRECTORY BEFORE YOU CHANGE ANYTHING**********
************MAKE A DUPLICATE OF YOUR THINK TANKS DIRECTORY BEFORE YOU CHANGE ANYTHING**********

•••••••••••••••••If you fail to duplicate your folders before you make changes it's your fault for not having a back up!!!*******************

I do not know if this applies to Shockwave versions as I have no access to a copy.
Be aware that directory paths and folder names may have been changed. The core objective of this is to locate the data folder inside the TT application directory.

Normal player install: TGE install see below

1. Locate your ThinkTanks directory.
Windows:
Should be located C:Program FilesBraveTree
Unless you changed the install path from the default.

Macintosh:
Macintosh/Applications/
(For example I have a games directory in which all of my games reside)
Mine is: Macintosh HD/Applications/Games/ThinkTanks/

2. Duplicate your ThinkTanks folder.
Windows: (Control Drag) or Macintosh: (Option Drag) the TT folder. This will duplicate the folder. Rename it whatever you want.
OR
Mac and Win: You may also want to right click and choose copy, then right click and choose paste. This will also make a copy of the folder.

Locate the data folder.
Windows: C:Program files/BraveTree/ThinkTanks/game/data
Mac: In the Thinktanks folder right click on the ThinkTanks application, select "show package contents." Navigate through Contents/Resources/game/data/

3. Copy the data to the corresponding folders as indicated by the folders names.

A. "Copy contents to data folder" Folder contains "environment, missions, terrains, and water folders, and the init.cs file."
B. "Copy contents to shapes folder' Folder contains "Blue, Common, Green, markers, objects, organic, plants, Red, rocks, trees."
C. "Copy contents to skies folder" Folder contains sky related files in it.
D. "Copy contents to sound folder" Folder contains sound related files in it.

That's it. All is gooooood

TGE install
Here is what should be done prior to installing the expansion pack:
First steps (in Italics) are the same as prior to the creation of the tt_expansion_pack

(provided to me by Rooster) directed at Windows operating system
1. Download the torque demo, and install it to
program files/torque demo.

2. Copy the "demo" folder into the torque root
folder. (It should now be named "copy of demo").

3. Rename that new folder "game".

4. In the "demo" folder, create a new batch file.
(You can copy any of the files from Thinktanks'
"dedicated" folder, and paste it)

5. Right click on that batch file, and choose
"edit". Change the text to the following:
cd..
demo -mod game

6. Save and close the batch file.

7. Add TT shapes and terrains to your new "game"
folder.
8. Double click the new batch file (it may take a
while to do anything, just wait) , launch up the
FPS example game, and press F11.

Please don't post partials. This is becoming too many pieces. It would porbably be better if peopel coordinated with me throughh email than posting piece in the thread. I'm sure many people won't even read this far down. They'll jusy click the link above and think they have it all. Apparently my upload this morning never finished.

I will have all of the fixes done and uploaded tonight.

Does anyone know of anything else that needs fixing?

Added back the corrected sharp tree folder.
added unnamed.jpg to Desert, Lavaland, Swamp, and Winter shapes folder.
Removed /shapes/trees/tree2, /shapes/trees/tree3, /shapes/RW/trees2/tree2, /shapes/RW/trees2/tree3 (all crash the game.)
/shapes/Africa/foliage/umbrella02 (Still looking into that.)
Added msky_stormy1.dml to skies/minions folder.

@ Nap, when extracted the folder needs to be named "Sharp" That is where it is extracted to. The first time I extracted this it went into a folder called Sharp_Trees and was different from what it extracted to Dazzles. I believe we both have the "Sharp" folder not Sharp_Trees, or sharp. This needs to be extracted this way if you have any control over that as these trees are in my directory for shipwrecked as game/data/shapes/Sharp, and I believe in Dazzles directory the same way.

Thanks
CB

Well it appears that there are 2 sharp directories and both have been distributed. I'm trying to figure out the best way to solve this. I think the repaird trees were for me and were sent to others not knowing the full directory.

My initial respone would be to fix what affects the least amount of people. That has to be decided.

I really wish people would not re-distribute things that came in the xpack. If it was already released I can easily match your path.

Not a huge deal but may be confusing for some people.

I have not made anything invovling the Sharp trees and will
be happy with whatever
But I am so looking forward to starting...
Awesome collection of trees there matey

@CB I got 'em I am just buggin' Napinator for the naming structure b4 I use them
@Nap gonna download the fixmeup anyways for safekeping

Oh! Fellow modders! I was testing out the trees while waiting for the naming structure and...
I have a list of likely scrumgame trees
hmmm gots to avoid the "frisbee in the tree thingy"
After I fine tune the list I will pass it along - strictly my preferences to be sure but it
might come in handy

Monday, April 03, 2006 at 3:02:55 PM

You may just find me UP in the trees waiting for the scrum. :)

The way to get rid of it was install thinktanks again.... :'(

Heres Master Chiefs Complement...

GUYS I NEED HELP! I CANT JOIN ANY NON THINK TANKS MAPS! PLZ HELP ME!-Master C

I think you should help him ^_^.

Besides that thats a pretty big warning

Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 5:12:38 PM

Post some errors with what? I have never experienced that ever.

Are you trying to say the Expansion pack has something that shuts off your computer?

That's pretty funny.

What did the terminal window say?

Do you have the console llog or request it from the server hoster?

Hold on, I thnk I can get the answer from my crystal ballz.

Please, please, give me something concrete to work with rather than your notions. (Which are incomplete by the way.)

There hasn't been much we have not fgured out if you start wth the proper information.

Sunday, April 16, 2006 at 2:24:47 PM

@Napalm do any of the x-packs contain the bender shapefile?

Sunday, April 16, 2006 at 11:02:42 PM

No, most of the objects don't come with the original file. The downloads are specific to TT so there is no need for the 3D source file. Some of the ones I find do include them but I usually just toss those files. Sorry.

Boy, I still have Napalm's first expansion pack without an update! Well, I'll have to squeeze in a schedule to download this! :)

EDIT: Wait, when I do install this eventually, do I stop reading until "is all gooood"? Because I don't have TGE and it's confusing me.

Just drop the stuff in the proper folders and your done. If you don't mod you need not worry about anything TGE related.

Preparing TGE is just a few more steps in the beginning. (Creating the game folder and such)

When adding the Xpack, the steps to add to TT or TGE are identical. (That's the point of making TGE look EXACTLY like TT so the paths are the same when you create a mission.)

Monday, May 15, 2006 at 6:29:09 AM

That is correct, each pack is biult with the prior pack included. That's why they get bigger and bigger.

And bumpage

Which is also why you have the "fixed" file as well, right? SO you don't have to re-dl everything.

Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at 7:55:35 PM

I wish to register a complaint. :S I think I've found a problem Shape in the Xpack4 Partial... More specifically the one which was one the culprits behind me failed attempts at hosting a private server to see the mod I've been working on: shapes/GX_BarbCoil/barbcoil_block_lg.dts

I have not tested the other GX barbed coil shapes or barbed fence shapes but the one above has certainly caused me problems.

...just thought I might report it. :)

Hey Naps, not tryin' to flame this thread up, but is it entirely wrong for me to see its title and immediately think of penis enlargement, or am I alone here? And if you could come up with such a product that works, I'd gladly be a guinea pig for the testing, as I've grown tired of slamming it in the dresser door to produce swelling.

Thanks and sorry again,

Will eliminate any need for swelling via bureau slamming.
