As we all kno, Art Crazy is making a wonderful Admin Script that will be comeing out sooner or later (hopefully sooner ;) ). But before he finishes we, as gamers hopefully to use his script, might want to help him out so he dosn't haave to upgrade his Script. Soo I have posted this forum to help Art Crazy. So this is your chance to post away and hopefully Art Crazy will take our thoughts into mind!

because another one of arts secrets is how to make it work for macs....
I wonder if all these secrets are just to keep art's stuff good, cause if anyone could make them whats the point? :P

Cool art, you are the master, but why do you have to keep half the stuff you do secret?
it would be nice to let us all have a chance, even with something as simple as a fix for the mac text logger problem...
lots of people have commented to me that I should make it compatable with macs but you wouldent give me the fix
if you would just tell us (since you can, you have the torque license) we could all benifit

The whole reason I am playing TT is to learn how to program and with all these abilitys torque has, it seemed like the nice way to go
but then everything is secret! No one shares stuff. The only reason most people out there know how to mod is because people like you told them how, but you didnt tell them everything ( not me, I got a book or two on torque :P )
I understand the need for secrecy, just look at what chong did...
but it appears to me that the reason you are a great scriptor is cause you have all of these secrets...(dont get me wrong, you do script better than all of us, but none of us have a chance)
me, I would love to learn them but I cant get them...
and I am not the only one...
not all of us are like chong and not all of us steal mods, etc
heck, I am not even apart of your "admin circle" so I dont even get the chance to know how to do most things yet I have sorta good mods...

Cause it appears to me that the more things you dont tell us, the more things we dont know how to do, the more things we ask you for, hence when anyone has a problem, their thread title is like "Art Crazy come here"!! And none of the rest of us can help, except those who know your secrets

We would just like the chance, I'm sure you trust a specific few about your codes
what makes the rest of us untrustworthy??

I can script somewhat well, thanks to my past experiences with Delphi, Pascal, and Java (~=TorqueScript).

Well, I'm gonna release the text based part of my admin script open-sourced and the code is there... I don't have a TGE license so I had to ask many ppl if I could, and I'm currently waiting for the latest answer, from Bravetree...
About the Mac fix, if I want I could release it alone, what will happen if I cannot release the admin script open-source. I'm allowed to release it because the fix is made from scratch and does NOT use any edited script that originated from somebody else's.cs

About the secrecy, well... I can say I have my own reasons (like not owning a TGE license) but most of the times I do help the ppl, and when I cannot release the script but can do it, give hints... (like the negative numbers thing, when someone discovered it, I just fixed the syntax errors that person has...)

I'm not part of the admin circle too, and I only script for fun (well mostly :)) so I dont have many time for scripting.
Well... And I don't have a Mac too, so I cant sorta test my scripts etc...

Lol, Art doesn't know a thing about porting to Mac... J/k, ;) I do all the porting stuff for him... If you need something ported to Mac, tell me. I do know a way to make ChatLogger work on a Mac, but I don''t have enough time now... :(

If you don't mind I think a great idea for your new script would be if you could make it effect bots (unlike dash's adm script)... XD
I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to kill a bot with adm abilities... %)

The main problem about that is that the OpenForAppend function is broken on Macs, even if to port you only need to compile it under a Mac, it wouldnt log the chat...

You might already have this 'cuz I think it's pretty easy. When someone logs in as admin, can you make it so it automatically puts "|Admin|" after their name so we don't have to type it in?

Well, the problem about that is that THAT CLEANS UP THE FILE YOU OPEN! So let's see, when you ban someone you're cleaning up the record of the ppl you banned before, that can be used to fix it, but it needs a complicated function... I know that for a long time and have used it on my fix, but its need more complicated scripting...
