3 or 4 weeks ago my ibook died. I was playing TS @ Roos. The monitor went suddenly dark but HD was still spinning. External monitors didn't work too.

It's dead. Rest in peace my lil white mac.

I have been traveling quite a lot for business in the last weeks. No time to look for a new mac. I have not been playing TT since that day and I can't play at office.

What else can I say? Just wait for me buying a new mac (PCs are out of question). The sexy dwarf will be back one day or the other.

Donation of cash to buy me a new mac are wellcome. Paypall accepted.

Enjoy!

Heh, you can do plenty of things with Macs, like booting from a firewire drive or another Mac's internal drive via firewire target disk mode. Try that on a PC.

When you fry the internal and external video, its probably a motherboard malfunction. The iBook might still be useful as a server or headless networked computer.

[EDIT] Are you really in Italy io? I was going to offer to buy your iBook but shipping from Italy would kill that deal. Email me when you get your new Mac and I'll explain how to set up your iBook so that you will see it's desktop and operate it (headless) on your new Mac's screen.

Yes Italy BC. That trick would be great... I need to save the data from the HD. As a matter of facts monitor lighted up a couple of times for a few minutes when I tried to move the screen, hit the keyboard... But it doesnt happen anymore.

Do you know if new ibooks will be offered next year or just the OS will be upgraded to leopard?? I am considering to wait a little more if I can buy better hardware.

The new iBooks are called MacBooks and the PowerBooks are called MacBook Pros. Ya, if you can wait until spring when Leopard comes out it will save you some money. Throw me an email and we can continue this discussion privately.

Oh please let's not make this a mac vs pc thread. Those threads suck. In his case it's not a mac OS problem, it's a hardware issue. In your case I'd buy a new laptop.

And for the record BC, my desktop PC's motherboard allows booting off firewire. :P
