Thanks Paisano....
That was the closest my mouse has come to feeling my wrath.... It the dang thing wasn't so expensive, I woulda thrown it for sure.
You and Demo were truly on fire. You guys played as an awesome team and it seemed like you could not be stopped for any reason. Napalm and I on the other hand could not seem to get anything going.
Demolition plays zone at the goal, and I need to learn how to get around that. He is a bmmer who is REALLY good at zone camping. I would say about 80% of the time that I was on a run to the goal, there was Demolition waiting for me. You chasing me with a hail of fire, and Demolition waiting just the right distance from the goal.... Powerful combination.
Then to have Demolition boasting (notice the quotes) "I think I can beat TG every time I play her" was like rubbing salt into the wound.
You are right that the score does not indicate how hard of a battle was fought... But it certainly does indicate who fought the best battle eh?
Katherine the humbled.
OK, I guess I have to throw my two cents into this thread.
Right along with the feeling TG's having, I would have thrown my mouse last night, but I have learned (from an earlier) keyboard throwing incident, that I will only have to pay for another, and then I still won't be a better player. Although I have been frustrated in many of the games BM and Scrum since I started, I truly enjoy them all. If I didn't I would have stopped playing a long time ago. Many times I feel someone will come downstairs and tell me to shut the F up because I'm having a good old LOUD time. THIS IS FUN. There are times like last night, where it just doesn't appear you’re going to get any breaks and for the most part TG and I didn't. I'd have to say, I had at least 7 or 8 goals taken away right at the goal because of environmental elements and just great play by the other team. In at least 2 instances I had the two "live players" down and was wasted by a bot. Not what I was expecting, no not at all. The bots were tough-as-nails last night. Serious business.
I as well thought several times I was in the clear with a jump pad or arrow pad, and just a I hit the pad I'm dead. I think I even hit a jump pad, gave the scrum to the opponent and catapulted him right at the goal as I just floated upward taking a nap on my way down because it took so damn long to fall back to earth. Man I wanted to quit but wouldn't because I know I can do better. (And I don't want to look like a 39 year old baby in front of TG lol) I have to admit, whoever Demolition is, he really knows how to get around the map very well. Used the terrian very efficiently. I think he (I believe he's male) thought I was going to "GO OFF" but only paid him a compliment after cussing at myself.
I also realize that the score does not tell the whole story. In many cases I was making sure TG was able to score. If I knew she had the scrum I went for the tank in between her and the goal. I don't mind supporting my teammates; it's where I'm best suited until I elevate my skill. But when I'm right next to the goal COME ON. So close so many times. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Anyway Pai, TG, Demolition, I had a blast and your all great players. Was the other Prof that joined later?
Any day it doesn't matter, I don't mind an ass-kickin by the likes of you. Your all gracious winners and as far as I can tell. Classy people. As I have stated before in some posts and also as someone stated last night, it only makes you a player better. And you need to practice losing to be a good looser too.
Your time, competition, skill, and entertainment is truly appreciated. If you were anywhere near me I'd take you all out for drinks.
Best regards,
Napalm

Well, I might as well add my $.02 to this thread, here was my take on the games last night:
1) They were a blast. We were all trying to learn the new map, and it had some interestingly placed boosts and bounce pads, but as time went on we all were able to get around better. I really liked the map, so kudos to the creator.
2) I agree that the score didn't tell the whole story. The games were very competetive and I never felt like we were dominating until I looked at the score. Most tof the goals were contested and a lot of them could have gone either way. It's a huge momentum shift when a team takes away a goal from the other team. It's a 2 goal differential. It only takes a few times of that happening for the game to look really lopsided when actually it's a very hard fought game.
3) I normally do not play that style of zone defense, and actually I was doing a lot of chasing too, but the way that map was, with all the plateaus and such made me change my style of play. I think some of the frantic maps play very similarly.
4) No offense TG, but I believe I have surpassed you in TT skill. I am basing this on a small sample of games we've played recently. You are of course entitled to your own opinion, but that's mine. Regardless, I definitely have confidence when I'm playing you now because of those lopsided scores. I think you are a great runner but you could stand to hone your bm skills a bit.
5) Napalm you were just the opposite of TG. You were awesome at bming, and it seemed like your turret was directly linked to my buttocks at all times, but it seemed like it was easy to take the flag from you. Again, I'm only basing this on a few games, so take it with a grain of salt. I am not trying to put anyone down, just offering my constructive criticism.
6) It's nice to play hard fought competetive games with mature players, and I salute you all. I agree with Napalm. After those games it would have been great to go for a drink afterward...that's exactly how I felt too. I have great respect for all those that played last night, including (you know who) that joined later. I also wouldn't have minded switching up the teams to see how that would work, although I was really enjoying playing with Paisano. He and I always seem to raise each others' game when we play together.
7) I am most definitely male
Demolition
P.S. (more salt for the wound) the last game might not have been so close had I not slacked off a bit and started chatting when we were up 7-3 :P
I think what you stated was accurate. No argument here. You're correct in your assumption. I come form BM so that's my stregnth. (not as if you have any problems there yourself)
I'm working on holding onto the scrum. Just taking some time. Only been scrumming for a few months. It will come. Thanks!
Napalm
4) No offense TG, but I believe I have surpassed you in TT skill. I am basing this on a small sample of games we've played recently.
ummmm..... I guess no offense taken.... I just don't think that I would feel the need to say that to you if the tables were turned...... That is twice we have played together and each time you ended with telling me that you are now better than me.... My interpretation of good sportsmanship includes not rubbing your opponents nose in it... But I guess that is just me, and I'm a bit old fashioned.
I DO feel the need to take one small defensive stance here...... I have only played a small number of hours in the past few months, and, well, to put it bluntly, I am in an altered state of reality every single time I play.... Maybe my game would get better if I took it more seriously... And maybe the fact that it is starting to bother me if I lose is going to push me to get back in shape again. The problem is, I am a lousy shooter and I don't care enough to get better at it.... I just like to go fast, fly far, and make points.
Katherine.... In conflict with her own intentions
Sorry TG, looking back it does look a bit rude. I warned you guys that telling me how good I was would go to my head.
So how long have you been waiting to say "to put it bluntly"? Lol
Don't worry about taking it more seriously, after all it's only a game, and it can be whatever you want it to be. Since I retired, lightened up, and stopped playing so much I have found that I enjoy it much more. I no longer feed the trolls, I play the games that I want to play in and that's it.
By the way I was wondering how I have this reputation as a bm'er? I never play bm games and I don't shoot people for no reason.
Also, K8, you say you don't care enough to try to get better at bm, but if you are looking for an easy way to improve without even realizing you're doing it, try some survivor when nothing else is going on. It worked for me.
Demolition
Demolition is 100% right about the importance of improving shooting skills, whether we agree with it or not. He's also right about survivor helping your shooting skills. I've been playing more of that as well as CTF and Battlemode and it has helped (but I still have a long way to go when it comes to shooting!!!)!
Think of this, K8. You've already mastered the hardest skills in scrum (running, leaping, manuevering, etc. Etc.). If you just tweaked your shooting skills some more, then you would be completely lethal (even though you've proven to be deadly strictly with your hips and driving skills countless times!). A good example would be Ben/Fried Chicken. He can make beautiful runs like you do on ocassion, but he has the added advantage of being an incredible shooter! This means as he is driving backwards towards the goal, he is also smoking anyone chasing him! I've also seen him make a lovely run and kill a couple of camping tanks without losing stride. Now that's fun!!

Demo got the goods.
Napalm and TG are opposites....shouldnt they be good together....ahem in scrum?
Hehe!!

No problem Demolition... And thank you.
I don't think you shoot people for no reason... I actually think you play quite fairly. I had heard your background was in BM, and you shoot very well so it fit, that's why I mentioned that you are good at bmming... I was trying to give you a compliment. It's all good Demo.... :)
@Paisano
I just don't care about the shooting part.... Isn't that silly ? Basically that is my proclamation to settle for mediocrity. I wish that I was more of a competitor, but my energies are different than most of the guys here. I like smaller, more friendly games, I always shy away from the games with 10+ vets, I get too agitated..... Not fun for me. I really do think this is a chemistry delta between the girls and the guys..... The girls don't seem to have the emotional stamina that it takes to be "the best" in a field of guys. Testosterone takes y'all that extra step.
Bolo
I think Napalm and I could be good as a team, but I have a lot more to learn about shooting and he has a lot more to learn about scrum strategies..... Could that mean that together we are useless? LOL.

Actually the games that you scored fairly high I believe in my opinion were due to me clearing the lane for you to score. Maybe it's me but, I automatically look to see who needs removal when OI don’t have the scrum. One of the reasons I felt so frustrated that night was due to me doing more "house cleaning" than scoring. I think that's the whole basis of the Pai starting this thread.
If you can drive and I can create space for you, I think we can do well. Of course the more rounded players we can become always help. I agree with Pai, Demo, and Bolo. To become top notch you need to be deadly by turret. You need to be able to smoke someone a 1/4 field away as their smokin to the goal. For example the Professor has that type of accuracy. Put a nice advantage to your game. This allows you to clip someone as they head to the goal and clean up after they parish.
I actually did fairly well last night winning a couple of games with 5 goals. Again, some I didn't get many goals. Some good, some bad.
Do you think it would help if I tied a big ball to the top of my car and started jumping the draw bridges in Chicago? Hmmm Maybe~
Napalm
The problem is, I am a lousy shooter and I don't care enough to get better at it...
I give BattleMode lessons if you care to try...but you will need to have about 30-45 minutes of free time when we meet.
Non sequitur boy says: PIP please send me an email at dash@csmai.com I drafted you to my tbml team for next season
I will be glad to take you up on that PIP.... I can't imagine what I would learn though.... I understand a lot about strategies of shooting and I have been playing for more than a year... I just don't seem to be very good pointing the gun. I much prefer dancing around than pointing and shooting.
One thing of interest (possibly)... I usually only hear my gun firing about 30% of the time... Maybe even less. I often times don't know if I am actually firing or not. I have reinstalled the game before in an effort to fix the problem, but it persists. Seems much worse when there is lag too. I will sometimes lose the sound of my tank driving as well as the sound of my gun shooting. I understand about the bursts and "reloading", so that is not the answer to the problem.... I think I just have a sound glitch... Like I can only hear a few channels at once and if there is another tank around, I lose some of my audio signal.
Maybe this is a bug since I use digital audio from the optical port on my G5? (There are a number of odd audio issues revolving around the digital audio on the G5).
ANYWAY.... I will be playing again tonight PIP... If you see me and feel like giving me some pointers... Lemme know....
:)
Katherine
Point that thingy haning off the front of the tank at the other guy and SHOUT! BANG BANG FALL DOWN. Lol
I might just be interested in seeing what PIP has under the hood. (Bm skills! Keep it clean ya'll)

Greetings from the wireless world, TTers!
After reading this, I think I understand why TG and I aren't the greatest combo in the field. We both like to be the runner, and neither of us have the skill to clear the goal! Heh....figures.
- Bomb…James Bomb
Although ^ is fun to light up!!

Get a pc
Hehe
Actually TG BM has much less to do with turret accuracy than you might think. More of the rest...hehe...as soon as I realized this thats when I got deadly...
Ask me to explain some time.

I just wanted to address something that happened last night for Napalm's sake. He said he was feeling like the most frustrated player right now because of the games we played last night. He and TankGirl played me and Demolition in a series of games on Chief's new Team Scrum server.
Now, he and TG were not happy about the fact that they lost all of the games to us, but I just wanted to say that despite the scores of the games, they were a lot closer than one would think. We had to fight very hard for each and every goal. It was never easy (shoot, even the fbs were a pain in the neck!)! I thought they both played very well, despite the fact that TG was not familiar with the map and all of the odd rock and arrow pad placements near the goals! She must have lost a dozen goals thanks to the design. Demolition and I were on fire too.
If it means anything, each game got closer and closer too! By the last game, they led 7 to 3 before we took it up a notch and pulled out a nailbiter 10-8 victory. The others were 14-5 and 13-5.
