Update about LAW
I spoke with LW last nite
His son had an irregular heartbeat and collapsed soon after track practice
After being rushed to the hospital and transfered to a better hospital for heart related conditions
He was taken into surgery.....
The doctors found no bloodclots but determined that one of the two electrical nodes responsible for
regulating heartbeat was malfunctioning.
The decision was made to shock the heart and the news so far is good
His heartbeat returned to normal but as you can expect they are keeping him in hospital for observation
I'm sure LW will post when he things calm down a bit
Plz keep praying for his family during this frightening and difficult time
FROM LONE - 4:33 AM
On Tues. Night my son LAW (aka Mike, who is 16) was rushed to the Hospital due too passing out while running with the High School Cross Country Team. Well when he passed out, he hit his head. He was not out that long cause the team didn't notice him missing. He woke up & didn't notice he was bleeding from hitting his head. He walked out to the team and that's when they told him he was bleeding. One of the kids called 911. Well when EMT's showed up and started to checking his vitals they notice a irregular heart beat. They rushed him to one hospital(Meriter Park - in Madison) only to be transfered 3 hours later to University of Wisconsin.
Yesterday they ran a camera down his throat to examine his heart and to check for blood clots in his heart. Well they found no blood clots, so they shocked his heart in attempted to get his heart beat back to normal.
So far it has worked. With any luck we should be released some time today. I will give you more details once we hook up on-line.
Our hearts are with you Lone.
...and hopefully the Lonewolf "haters" out there will find a heart that isn't cold and offer their prayers for your son ~_~
Thoughts are with you and yours, LW. I have a child myself and can imagine how difficult this time is for you. See you on the other side of it!

Modern medicine (and pacemakers) can do incredible things. Sounds like he was lucky to have the type of incident he did and the opportunity for good treatment to follow. I hope things turn out well.
@ All
Thank you for the prayers !
Law is home now.
We are not out of the woods yet !
He has a Cardiac rhythm monitor that he has to wear for the next 30 days.
He goes back to the Doctors a week from tomorrow for another Eco gram (not sure on spelling)
but it 's a ultra sound of his heart.
He has been stable since Wed. At around 2pm CST.
They can not explain what has brought this on or if he will stay at a normal rythm.
So for the next 30 days we are still touch and go.
I will continue to update you all daily on his status.
@ FatLips
Thanks for putting a side our problems and for sending us your prayers.
Lets start with a clean slate please.
Life is too short to fight over something as stupid as what we were fighting about.

Glad to hear he's home. 44 is right, they have advanced that field of medicine considerably in the last two decades both in diagnosis and treatment.
Lone
My dad has Atrial Fib and has had problems with it since he was about Laws age. There are some great things that they can do for the heart nowdays (they've pioneered a surgery that can fix it now). So instead of life threatening they are downgraded to merely annoying. :)
So breath deep and relax a little.
Best wishes

Fresh start it is bud, best of luck with everything man!
We're at your side buddy!
Well first night home and no problems
Besides I can not sleep.
I am to worried about him.
In fact the wife & I hid a baby monitor under his bed,
in hopes it would allow us to sleep and be able to hear him if something went wrong.
All I did was jump at every sound I heard last night.
At least he is doing fine so thats all that matters to me
@ Three
That is what my son has,

And here I thought it was computer problems again, but I suppose its the pump instead. :)
Gee, Lone, you sure do live a dramatic life. I'm sure it will work out, he's a young kid, full of vinegar with a Pop who'll keep him straight. Just try to relax, otherwise you'll end up in the bed beside him. ;)
Sorry to hear that lone hope he will b safe
you r on our prayers!
Lone
Needless to say I know a lot about this problem so if you need information just drop me an e-mail.
About the heart monitor, this is exactly what they should be doing. They need to know how the heart is having Atrial Fibrillation so that they can decide if he needs to be medicated. If he is having constant little flutters then he will be on a daily pill (be careful because some of these over time actually cause heart damage). If they only occur sparadically they will probably give him a drug to use as needed. If he does need to be medicated he will probably get very familiar with the heart monitor.
There is a pretty strong genetic predisposition towards having A Fib and it often sets in at an older age (hypertension often triggers it). Both of my fathers parents started having this in their 70's. So you and your wife have a possibility of developing this as well.
Here's some decent resources that I found doing a quick search.
The good news.
It is very very rarely fatal.
It is treatable
Exercise helps control it (tell you son he can never get fat now)
You know about it and will know what to watch for in the future.
The bad news
It's annoying
It's F***ing scary
So go drink a few beers, play some TT, and go to sleep. He'll be fine. My dad has lived with it for 40 years now. XD
P.S. I turn of the baby monitor you might hear stuff you would rather not.
I don't mind being mixed up with Three, he's a funny guy.
The test is called an echocardiogram.
Lone, I would like my kids to have a word with Lil wolf Saturday if thats ok, post me a time, UK if possible
@ The V & Mkiv
I will be emailing you both this weekend.
There is something I hope you 2 can help me get some info on.
@ The V
Thanks for those links man.
I have spent the last hour reading
and have learned a lot more.
Will be spending a lot of time at them !
Status Update :
Last night was a little rough.
Law had his monitor go off last night
but we checked his pulse and it was at 52.
We sent in the recording and they never called(which I hate cause then you are all ways left wondering are they going to call ?),
so all is good.
Today he has been fine.
Sorry to hear that happened, hope everything turns out fine for him.
