It doesn't happen all that often, but it sure is annoying when it does. Is anyone in the know willing to explain it to all of us? I'd just like to know.
Is the computer down, is there a power outage, or did GG forget to pay the electric/ ISP/ payroll/ whatever else?

That was a joke Tankster. He said that someone had to type in the same code used in the TV show Lost.

Unless I'm mistaken, it's a crappy PC jammed in a corner somewhere in Garagegames lunchroom.
Apparently they don' t monitor services, ping, or applications.
Nobody even notices it goes down unless we alter them.

Good thing we are moving offices next week...

Honestly, I don't know why it goes down. Don't know if it's software or hardware. Or if this outage was related to the move or not. I'll see if I can find out tomorrow...

Maybe somebody could post a fair warning if the outage is planned next time?

Seems fair enough to me... And glad to see the server is back, too.

^Jedi I know where that is. My grandparents lived in Eugene for a number of years.

It's a dirtly little business office right across from the porno store. No wonder it takes them so long to get the server up. ;)

Good thing we are moving to offices across from the local prison...

Anyway, the word on the master server is that it's a software bug that we've not yet been able to track down. Every once in a while the app just locks up. Not sure if bad packets are taking it down or what, but apparently it freezes, and it just has to be closed and reopened and everything is fine.

This time it just happened to conincide with a different server having a problem, so when the emails came into to our intrepid server reboot guy, he thought it was about the issue he had just fixed, and didn't realize the master server needed a relaunch... Heh.

At least he wasn't off camping for the week...

Hmmm I say that everytime that the master server goes down that everyone at GG has to work without pants. Wait, I mean you have to wear a suit and tie for as long as the master server was down. Heh bet that takes care of the "bug".

@ 56K

If the server app locks up after long term use, why not have the computer close and relaunch it at midnight or something each day?
If there is any problem with the program running for long periods of time that should do it...

However if it is not a program error, it will get re-launched at midnight anyway... So you can narrow down the problem and have the server up within reasonable time

Just a thought :P

Have a nice day

Here's an idea.

Give the server reboot guy a mac with the GG server widget installed.

All he has to do is check it when people email in complaints. What's the addy for him anyway? ;)

Just need a remote access program at one of the GG's employee's homes. He can restart the program without driving into the big city.

If it were to close up at midnight, it would lock-up all those awesome late-night scrum games I used to love so much. :( That would displease the majority of players...
