For a long time I have had a problem with sound effects. I hear everything except I never hear the powerup vocal effects.

Many times the sounds for when bullets hit me or when a tank hits me dont come thru either...

Cmedia built on board CMI8738 6 CH with SPDIF with latest drivers on xp pro.

Im not sure about anyone else but ever since I installed norton systemworks 2004 TT lags A LOT....the services that control the pw manager, autosave manager, unerase manager, etc seem to be the problem. When I disable all the services except the autovirus protection its fine....is there a known issue?

Edit: almost forgot

Most of the time I get no music in the games. I hear most of the sound effects but no music. When the level first loads I usually get the music but at some point it just shuts off....both sound and music is set to max in the options menu and I havent messed with anything in the prefs that has to do with sound or music.

That's lag. It seems to 'eat' the sounds.
