Here's a challenge for you amazing modders: Is it possible to create a map/mod that would allow us to play ThinkTank Football?

It would be similar to scrum, but instead of a circular goal, could you create an endzone? If not, how about just lining up a series of goals lined up

On the goal line side by side forming an endzone's goal line?

Also, it would be a good idea to disable all shooting and weapons! Include more launch pads and bounce pads and learn how to pass the flag/football to teammates and block.

I think this would be more like Rugby than American football, but it would still be loads of fun.

I think Tally Ho or someone else suggested TT soccer, which would also be fun... Similar concept, only we'd have to be able to bounce a ball with our tanks somehow instead of carrying it.

Well, this is technically possible with the CTF mod that -z- has. He is the only one I know who can alter the shape of the goal. As it stands, you can only have one goal present at a time, but -z- could make a long, oval goal to mimick the endzone.

Don't hold your breath, though. He's busy as it is, and he can't release the CTF mod since it contains Brave-Tree-provided source-code that he can't release. A neat idea, though.

I think the idea of being able to "pass" is great. Maybe something like... If you hold down the OPTION/ALT key while firing you can shoot the scrum to another player.

That'd be pretty damn phat actually. Not only would you have to blow the guy w/ the scrum away, but work on all his team mates before they could get a pass.

Heh, I can see it now a line of Heavy tanks at the scrimmage, blocking access to the Light tank QB. Except the way the lights can toss the heavies around right now, that might not work as planned. :o

LilAlien, the idea of passing as you mentioned sounds very cool. B)

LilAlien: How about the scrum carrier can;t shoot, but can pass by clicking the mouse at about the trajectory of the bounce-backs.

We could play combat football too where we could shoot and bomb our opponents just to satisfy you battlemoding animals out there!

Speaking of soccer, when you are playing with more than 1 scrum ball (thanks to Sluggy!) there are some soccerlike things. If you are carrying the scrum and come across the 2nd scrum you can 'kick' it by simply running into it. It will bounce ahead by a few paces. Very soccer-like. Not sure if you can really control the angles or anything.

Yes you can, I played a version of soccer by myself when I was working on halo 1 a while back, and you have to get it just right, and you can control the angles as best I can remember.

It would have to be soccer... American Football has too many rules and regulations to implement. For example... Having to line up at the line of scrimmage after each play. Too much work...

Now this is doable...

Green goal on one side, blue goal on the other. Initially, Blue spawns on the Green Goal side, Green spawns on the Blue goal side, scrum spawns in the center.

Instead of shooting, you pass the scrum. To score, you have to shoot or drive the scrum into the goal... Which is of course guarded by a goalie.

To enforce the out of bounds rule, set up a layer of death fog around the boarders. If you touch it, you die. The scrum will re-spawn on your opponents goal side, and you re-spawn on your goal side. If you just shoot the scrum out of bounds on accident, it'll re-spawn on your opponents goal side.

Now that sounds like a fun game :)
