I was speaking to an american girl last night in a bar in 'pai' last night and I just thought you might be interested in the opinions she gave on americans...
Please bear in mind this is not my opinion, just one which I thought was particularly interesting
Through travelling she was telling me how she meets many many people from australia and israel and europe... But very few americans. At first she found it shocking that so many people who have just left school from the rest of the world (bar america) take a year out to go travelling and see the world - when she decided to take a year out to go travelling round the world (after uni) all of the people she knew thought she was insane. She mused on the fact that people were telling her to watch out for how dangerous the rest of the world was, "with all the native indians running around all over the place" whilst these people had never left their own state (never mind their own continent). At the end she had placed the fact at the fact that she thought the americans (her own country) were, not necessarily "ignorant" of other peoples, but just scared and unwilling to find out for themselves. "why would you go anywhere else, when you've got everything you could ever want here"
She went on to say how wonderful the american peoples are (as have everyone else I have spoke to who have travelled there) but that people don't seem to be able to see past their own manicured front lawns and tv sets.
When your the worlds leading military and economic power, and ESPECIALLY when your hiding behind a gungho puppet president who's soul aim is to "export democracy" and force it upon other peoples, you need to understand what you're doing and be able to see the bigger picture. Question everything and don't let your tv sets fool you. Don't be caught up in a fascists orwellian wet dream.
Please be aware that this is an incredibly generalised set of comments and is filled with bias and is not meant to offend anyone (although im sure it probably will).
Contrast stink's quote to this GW quote-
I'm the commander -- see, I don't need to explain -- I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being the president. Maybe somebody needs to explain to me why they say something, but I don't feel like I owe anybody an explanation.
Wait till God gets ahold of him.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." - Theodore Roosevelt.
Nuff said.
