@Funny
Wiz, I thought I wouldn't like yours tracks, but some of them were great!
Warfare, I thought no Iron Maiden too... Lol. Btw, They recently published a new single.
Iron Maiden is one of the bands... Which got a huge amount of great songs
I listened to Europe around 2005-2006 year change. I liked these songs:
1. Europe - All Or Nothing (3:55)
2. Europe - Europe - In The Future To Come (5:00)
3. Europe - Long Time Coming (3:55)
4. Europe - On Broken Wings (3:45)
5. Europe - Ready or not (4:04)
6. Europe - Seven Doors Hotel (5:15)
7. Europe - Sign of the times (4:15)
8. Europe - Stormwind (4:23)
9. Europe - Superstitious (4:33)
oh yeah and final countdown is alright :)
From Sweden comes much dance music :)
Some magnificent bands!
@Nightwish.
They got many many great songs, too bad Tarja ain't part of the group anymore. Going to be interesting to see what direction the band will head. They are a mix of opera and metal. Check out songs like Walking in the Air *beautiful track, sob*, Over the Hills and Far Away *beautiful*, Wishmaster, Crownless, The Riddler, End Of All Hope, The Kinslayer, Stargazers
@Sonata Arctica
I have liked pretty much all of their songs. Never heard a bad track from them. Speed melodic metal. Some songs are 8th commandment, Black Sheep (Side Comment: Wasn't there a TT Team called Black Sheeps??? You guys should have this track as your theme song ;)), Champagne Bath, Destruction Prevented, Kingdom For A Heart, Mary Lou, Respect The Wilderness, The Cage, UnOpened, Weballergy
You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

I have been thinking a lot about this thing.
The interesting part in music, is that ones taste doesn't necessarily have to be very much related to if the music is actually 'good', or even appealing to a person. It's often probably 50% or more a matter of cultural belonging, or a matter of memories, and even randomness.
Randomness, in that sense that your musical likings are often not founded in the music at all, but rather from whatever music you happened to *hear*, at a certain time and situation in life. Since the brain is probably very much striving to recognize things, i.e. Memorize, it gets obvious why people fancy whatever they are listening to.
---
On another note. As for different styles of music. I really try to like any kind of music. For sure, there are certian styles that I have a really hard time liking. And that isn't necessarily tied to a certain style, or genre, but this is what I dislike the most:
<Badly and heartlessly made music>. Of course, you could say that about any kind of music that isn't in your 'mood', so to speak, but to explain further what I think is the one, major factor for badly made, hearless music:
<Commercial stress>. Musicians, in most cases we're talking about non-musicians really, are using music as a means of making big, and preferably quick money, more than they are doing music for their love, passion, fascination and obsession in doing so.
I mean, back in the ol (I mean, OLD) days, when people ran around naked in the woods, hurling rocks on mammoths, they sure knew how to make music. You know, I'm that old, so I know. Trust me. They pounded those drums passionately, until they dropped dead. Which is what I call passion! And you know what, they didn't earn a single dollar for what they did.
Bottom line, money is detrimental to music.

My thought on bold. :)

I believe your environment effect what way your music interest will move. The music you have heard the most seems to be coded in your genes as 'good' music. To break the code you must open yourself to the music and be willing to let every single lyric, beat and melody you hear to effect you in good and bad that way you will grow up away from the build-up music likeness and find your thing.

I believe every music genre has something to offer for everyone if they are willing to listen. Up to the person if they keep listening what they have always listened or try out new things which they may actually find good.

You have opened up yourself to the music. You're willing to try out different type of music and you have found good music from all these genres. I have my prefers and dislikes too. I prefer music what is: positive, energetic, adreline, fast. I have hard time liking the opposite type of songs. They are generally depressing songs.
<Badly and heartlessly made music>. Of course, you could say that about any kind of music that isn't in your 'mood', so to speak, but to explain further what I think is the one, major factor for badly made, hearless music:

If they are doing it(music). I feel that they hold atleast some of your four qualities to the music. Otherwise I have hard time believing they would have ended up in music industy. Even if they didn't hold any of them and end up in the genre. I believe with time(while doing music) all of the four qualities starts to grow. Beside all of these qualities are qualities which usually takes time to grow. They aren't just with you when you start something new. They grow and they grow bigger and bigger the more you do it.
I mean, back in the ol (I mean, OLD) days, when people ran around naked in the woods, hurling rocks on mammoths, they sure knew how to make music. You know, I'm that old, so I know. Trust me. Yes they banged the drumms noisely and passionately, but whats wrong from earning money from something you hold a passion to?
Bottom line, money is detrimental to music.
Money is running the full pop culture which incluade musics, more specifically what is thought as mainstream music aka what's "cool" and "in". Mainstream music is the music which makes the biggest bucks to record companies pocket, but I think if someone wants to be succesful in music ie get name for themselves. They will have to be partly commercial.

^ nah. We can make an exception.
It's funny, this.
There's an old saying, that "music is the one and only common language to all mankind"... Heheh.. XD
Seems if looking at the posts about the music in this forum, that this 'common' language isn't so common after all. Matter of fact, music seems to be the most uncommon, gibberish way of communicating, ever... 8o
I've found myself listening to This Dude a lot lately. His stuff rules. (Classical Insanity is the best IMO)
@wiz
It's an old saying, because back in the times of stick and rock there wasn't more than one or two genres. Not much to choose from. How many genres and their sub and subsub genres there are now? I need someone else's fingers to be able to count them.
@racer
Is that music connected to gaming/games? The song names sounded game music. I think the song classical insanity was nice maybe I look throught the other ones someday.

You can listen to some of my stuff at simplastic dot se/listen/index.html Most of it is a bit old and crappy, but so am I, so. XD
I have decided to spend my life career on making 3d art, as well as sound design and musicfor games (mostly) and other entertainment media.
How about calling yourself 'all-around-entertainment-guy'. I am able to do more than you are able to think of doings. XD

^ sounds like a good idea. ;)
@ all
I'll remove the tracks from my webserver tomorrow. They take up a *whooole* lot of diskspace there, so I need to flush them. Which means, this is your last chance to download some really great, freebie music today.
^ Law Breaker
:O)
Law Breaker
Gah. No one would ever buy that music anyway. XD
No one would ever buy that music anyway
No.
No one would ever sell that music. It must have been in the MTV top 500 list if you want find it from the shop!
PS. I don't think wiz has ever broken any law. Keep your stinky-ass laws inside your own borders. We don't want to smell them! XD

The guy or gal that doesn't like this piece of music is NOT my friend anymore. :P
Seriously, I'm completely sold on this song... Can't stop playing it over and over again. A perfect number for any kind of whimsy barbecue fiest gone astray, or something thereabouts.. ;)
Hang looooose everybody!
