The long awaited /ignore script is now ready for download.

This was planned addition to the ThinkTanks 1.2 update. But the recent rash of malcontents has accelerated the deployment of this feature. It has been tested extensively, but may not be 100%. Consider it to be a very late beta. Please report bugs if you find them. Use it and spread the word.

Once you ignore someone you will not be able to see their chat. You will still see others yelling at them though, so spread the word so everyone can ignore them. Hopefully, a yutz being greeted by "has put Ann0y1ngYutz on /IGNORE." from several players will send the message about what people won't put up with in ThinkTanks.

Script and instructions for OSX.

Script and instructions for Windows.

Usage Instructions :

- In the chat box type /ignore or /i followed by enough of the player's name to make it unique to toggle the ignore feature.

Example: Assuming you want to ignore the chat from "Ann0y1ngYutz." Type: /i yutz or /ignore ann0

- Push the i key to bring up a chat box already filled with "/ignore"

- Push CTRL + i to cycle through the names of the players in the game.

- To allow that person's chat again, use /ignore or /i and their name again.

- A person will remain ignored until you quit ThinkTanks or unignore them.

Post Bugs/Questions/Comments here.

Working together to make ThinkTanks a better place™. XD

I have not tried it yet but was wondering if there is any feedback to the player being ignored? I think that it would be a more powerful function if the ignored player gets a string of "you have been ignored by (insert name)". That way everytime they spew they get it on them too.

@56k-

This looks fantastic! I haven't had an opportunity to test out the script yet, but it looks like great work.

I do however have one question. You mention that the upcoming release was to include something of this functionality. I wonder though if BT will eventually make this more of a GUI based option, rather than a script to run at the chat line. Although most teen and adult players will likely NOT have a prob using this script, I worry about the young kids, who may have some difficulty remembering how to do this in game. Of course, they are the ones who may need this "ignore" option the most. I may be worrying unnecessarily, but I just thought I'd mention it.

I had put together a mock-up image of the way I imagined this working that I can post if anyone is interested.

I'm not knocking this script, really. As I said, it's great that we now have this function. I just hope this isn't the end product for the foreseeable future. It would just be nice to have a slightly more "user friendly" way to do this.

But again, thanks for this!

@Him: Why yes, it does announce when it's activated.

56k Lag Man: has put Ann0y1ngYutz on /IGNORE.

So a really annoying person will see something like:

56k Lag Man: has put Ann0y1ngYutz on /IGNORE.

Him: has put Ann0y1ngYutz on /IGNORE.

Tally Ho: has put Ann0y1ngYutz on /IGNORE.

Jangles: has put Ann0y1ngYutz on /IGNORE.

TankGirl (SX): has put Ann0y1ngYutz on /IGNORE.

Racer445©: has put Ann0y1ngYutz on /IGNORE.

When they have crossed the line and everyone opt's out of their comments. Hopefully they will get the idea. ;)

@OM: Yes, this is still a work in progress. The next step is a GUI solution (popup a window, click the name and ignore), for exactly the reasons you mentioned. Other suggestions are welcome.

Works great. Thanks!

Thursday, January 08, 2004 at 8:08:11 PM

Is it a permanant ignore connected to the guy's account? Or can they just leave the server and come back in? If not, what if they come back in with a different name?

Thursday, January 08, 2004 at 8:11:53 PM

I have found that it sticks until you do it again to "un-ignore" them.

Thursday, January 08, 2004 at 8:12:59 PM

Yup, if they drop out and come back in with a different name you will have to re-ignore them. And there will no doubt be a few who will do that... Unfortunatly, blocking it by name (rather than account or IP) is all we can do for now with the servers that are currently in place. :[

"Work in progress."

Hope you like it!!

Friday, January 09, 2004 at 6:27:17 PM

56k, thanks again for the script.

Now tell me when you will work on the 'Ignore Scrum Theft' script.

Like say I'm having the Flea hopping toward me or Preyman on mine tail, I could type in 'I/flea' or I/prey' and thus have a guaranteed safe passage. It would be a nice script. You could charge money for that too.

I'm working on it Hugo, right now there is a bug that limits "/ignoretheft" to only those using the Nuerosia interface. Can't quite figure out what is causing it though......

Great thanx but I have 2 que.s

1. Will this be already installed in the next TT?

2.Where did u get the dancing bananna?

P.S. I do want #2 answered.

Saturday, January 10, 2004 at 2:06:12 PM

@UF: #1: Yes. #2. I got the banana from the emoticons at BargainShare , though I've seen on other forums too.

@Racer: I know you can do better. This logo has to compete with z's ModWizard logo. :P XD ;) Okay, don't need my name on it, or the slogan. Joe suggested ear muffs for the graphic. What do you think? You up to the challenge?

Sunday, January 11, 2004 at 3:22:17 PM

Hey Lag Man! Cool script, I'll install it right after this post. I can't see Racer's image so I'm not sure what your comments mean, but here's another possible logo. If you want to use it just right (ctrl) click. I can futz with it if you want..

I would have it posted here, but Uploadit isn't connecting and Geocities doesn't allow external linking, so you have to follow the link here, sorry:

Ignore Script Logo

Hope that the linking works and you like the logo.

Asterisk ;)

Edit: Geocities seems not to like any linking at all! If the above link doesn't get you there, try pasting in the url: . Hope THIS works..

http:// www.geocities.com /niceleftelk/TTsite /pix/ignorelogo. Jpg

Just take out the spaces..

And here's the plain url, again, to see if this will make the image..

Sigh.. This whole thing is weird..

Sunday, January 11, 2004 at 10:47:48 PM

Yeah, sorry -Z- I know that..

But before, I clicked on my name next to one of my posts and didn't see it. When I checked my profile from the inside, it was checked, so I checked and unchecked it and now it shows up..

Sorry, I forgot, should of known you wouldn't miss something like that.. I do have one comment though, right now when you click a smiley button, it automatically inserts it in the end of the post so far. This happens no matter where I put the cursor. I know you can always copy-paste or type it in yourself, but if you have an extra moment that would be great.

@Racer

I'll believe it when I see it.

@Fil

To tell the truth fil, how is it that you have time to make a logo but not enough time to change l;ol to lol and therE to there? Just wondering. And mine is a good logo!

Edit:

@Laggy

You out there? C'mon, say you like mine XD ! You know you do :P

*sob*sob*sob*

P.S.

I don't. It sticks it at the end of my post automatically. Like I said. No matter where I put the cursor.

P.P.S. Sorry Fil, lol.. I'm just joking mostly (ahem, mostly; -Z-, you meanie XO )

Oops.. Sorry Asterisk, I scrolled back up to see who it was that commented, and obviously took the name from the wrong post. No offence inteded. I would edit the previous post, but then that would leave yours out of context so will leave it as is and apologise here :)

[pouting]

I like mine better!

[/pouting]

No really, I do like mine better, although your fonts are cool racer.

Still, lookin' good. -Z-, apology forgiven. Can you come grade our spelling tests this week? Seeing as you british write all your apologizes and scrutinizes and whatever with s's instead of z's, and that is the main category our spelling words are in this week (verb suffixes), it would be kind of entertaining to see what the rest of the class does..

Lol, apology accepted. Although try to get it straight in future comments, it makes me look bad ( :P fil)

C'mon, laggy! Your decision is needed here. Ver have you gone off to?

Asterisk

P.S. -Z-, I'm presuming it's just a mac thing like the forum text prob (fixed by panther update). Still, it would be great, if you can spare the time, to get that worked out. It also happens for the italics, bold, underline etc. Tags.

Monday, January 12, 2004 at 10:17:06 PM
-z-

@Asterisk: try selecting some text and then appying 'bold' to it. It should put the tags either end of the selected text.

As for the logos, so far I'm leaning towards Asterisk's but I think the tank is a bit dark and could do with more contrast. Also, not keen on the type used for the text.

Mine Ignore wont work I dont know whats wrong can someone help

Saturday, February 28, 2004 at 11:41:06 AM

I would like to thank all the players who told me to get the ignore script as I have been having problems with a few players ,just because I was killing them. I tried to explain to them that I like killing big tanks they are more of a challenge than small tanks. 1 particular player accused me of being someone called miss kitty I do not know who this is but I have been told by willow that miss kitty is a well liked player ,so I have now downloaded and installed the ignore script so I do not have to listen to any more abuse from these players

Ps im also a new player iv been playing about a month and im enjoying it so far

Saturday, March 20, 2004 at 8:10:25 PM

The ignore script is a lifesaver(especially for babyboss) thnks 56

Saturday, March 20, 2004 at 8:58:51 PM

I'm having trouble installing it on my OSX G5...it's a new machine and I'm also new to Mac's.

Has anyone had success/trouble downloading it onto a Mac?

I have 2 kids that love TT's and so do I...OK, maybe I like it more than they do...but it's a real

Bummer when we have to shut the game down because of some idiot who doesn't know how to

Communicate with cussing. We try to teach our kids better than that...and it's difficult when the

Language pops up like that duringa game.

Thanks for any and all help/advice,

Bluford
