I'm not sure what happened there either, though I will say that of your 5 posts, 2 of them were redundant, ie we've seen these links/stories in other threads, and the little egyptian girl one seemed just slightly inappropriate, even though that pic was an obvious fake. The other 2 were fine if you ask me. Some mod went a little lock happy I guess.

Neither am I sure.

Sorry Cat, I'm looking into this. Not sure why those were locked, they seemed harmless enough to me, I've unlocked some of them.
Don't blame Dan. We as moderators are still trying to find that balance of what's noise and repetition and what is harmless fun. Incidents like these are bound to happen as we try to find those boundarys. So bear with us and help us to define the lines better.

Wow you admins are angels

Friday, February 25, 2005 at 2:33:58 PM

Mayby it's someting do with that you started five threads under thirdy minutes. Thought all of them are totally different subject... I don't mind about locking the egyptian one at all... Didn't like it very much... You probably guess why. But overall I like that there are some inteteresting threads for which I can waste my time. Please post more. ;)

You don't have to let go of one rope before grabbing the other. But you'll have to let go of one if you want to swing forward.

Hey moderators, in there in Forums Index there is written to General, "All other ThinkTanks related posts."
Please edit that becouse 1/3 of General's aren't related to TT.

Why even have a general forum when you can't post anything outside of TT subjects? Qoute "I don't mind about locking the egyptian one at all... Didn't like it very much.........." Well some may find it interesting. It's world news, not obscene, and definitely not useless. Now this is useless Link

Then again I got my girlfriend back by sending her this very link. So it may be useful to many TT addicted players who have lost their loves to a cartoon tank. Can I get an Amen people?

Well I will step up as 1 of the Moderators and tell you how you can tell it is me or not. I all ways post in the thread as to why I locked it. Now if you come a cross something that was edited I all ways end my edits with this B) , I also use bold type when making any edits ! I will also state for the record, it was not me who locked any of your threads Cat. Like 56 Lag Man said we are still working on the fine lines of when to edit and when to lock a thread. So please bare with us we are not perfect. If you have a problem in the future please feel free to email me its in my profile. I am in general the Moderator who is on PTT at least 3 to 4 times a day ! B)

Hey Cat, I wasn't implying you did anything wrong. Sorry if it came across that way. I don't expect everyone to know what was posted before or whatnot. I was just pointing out some possible reasons for the threads getting locked.

Which leads me to this. As Lone states in his post above, the mods should really post at least a one line sentence explaining why the thread was locked. "This is spam" or "this has been posted before. Look through the forums" etc. Failing to do that will only make someone think a mod has a grudge against them. People won't learn about what's appropriate and what's not if you guys don't explain why something was locked. Just my 2¢.

Barring that, you mods do an excellent job here. We appreciate your efforts.

I've never edited or deleted one of Cat's posts. You'll know if I tank your stuff. I will say so in the
thread

Heh, it's not me! I vow to never delete/lock a post without explaining why (unless it's a very obvious reason) ;)

I checked Snopes, by the way - the Egyptian girl article is real, according to them.

Who is chilled lizard and why all of a sudden is he an ptt admin?

B

Monday, February 28, 2005 at 8:38:38 PM

It was a typeo, he was helping out the mods with the Admin scripts for PTT servers. I ment to give him permissions to see the admin forum to answer questions, but I accidentally made him an admin. Woops. 56k and I have put some things in place to make srue that type of thing doesn't happen any more.

Cool there are a admin forum too? Like under the Armies are Admin forum for admins only?
